I was perusing Aussie car sale websites to see what coupes are worth down-under, and came across this beauty click

I like how he's copped a beating on his price but has come out swinging! laugh

Yes, his average price of 7 grand in the UK is a bit off... laugh

I did see a yellow Plus for sale in Aus, I believe it was a Malaysian import, the seller was asking $50k which is about 25 grand over here! The coupe was never sold in Aus, so any coupe for sale there is a private import. I'm thinking of taking mine back with me when I move home, probably end of next year.

I lived in Oz in the early 90's - Dolomite Sprints were fetching £5k then - the bodies were immaculate!

What people tend to do when selling a rare car is to put an optimistic price on it and come down to Earth a bit later. Who knows what a fair market value for a coupe in Australia is. It all depends on what people think the novelty value is worth.

While it's all well and good driving a rare car, who ever buys it is going to have a challenging time keeping it on the road.

My bro-in-Laws family are all Ex-Pats in Melbourne and as mentioned run mostly Triumphs and old Cov-cars.....
We were restoring a Standard Vanguard and ordered some bits from an Oz/UK car supplier. They arrived complete with all their original 50's UK packaging from when they were shipped over.

The Australian car market is heavily protected so prices are very high overall. Cars also dont rust like they do in the UK so its quite common place to see very old cars maintained in good condition still driven daily with 300,000+km on the clock.

$30K is way overpriced even in Australia. You could buy a very decent new car for that. This car has been for sale foor months and he even put the price up from 25 to 30K! I've seen immaculate 20VT's sell under $20K. There was one advertised for $18K a while back.

There was a 20VT plus for sale around a year ago too. original owner, It was bought over from the UK in 2001. Done only 18K miles. It was totally immaculate. Asking $24K and it took a while to sell at that.
