I have had my 16vt coop for about a month now and have put in a dink chip colder plugs and a de- cat but still have standard airbox. Anyway it still doesnt put a smile on my face i cant feel that turbo kick like i did in my punto gt, it feels smoother but not really quicker i dont know if there all like this or just mine (maybe faulty), i am not having a dig at the coop as its gorgeous, but should it be more of an animal? or will a bigger turbo sort this out, any help or opions would be great thank-you.

Hi jay

Hmm, the stranded 16vt is a animal to start off with. i would be supprised if the wheels in 1st and 2nd were not already lighting up on boost?

service first of all would be my thoughts? do you have a boost gauge installed? may be interesting to see what boost is being produced

and if you haven't, i would honestly recommend one for the price

i can tell you the coupe does sppol alot slower than a gt i had a seb 0 proven 172bhp gt and it was quicker than a stage 1 coupe on set off

in your case you want to upgrade to a dink stage 2 and let the real animal out with a nice T34 upgrade turbo and a evo FMIC and a straight induction and get rid of the restrictive airbox as there crap

I totally disagree. If you've ever driven a REAL turbo car (eg, anything with the letters GT, or RS!) you'll be pretty disappointed. A stock Coupe isn't exactly slow but there's none of that lairy all-or-nothing kick up the [censored] like in older turbo cars. You'll have to modify if you want that! evil

So there's most likely nothing wrong. But it's defo worth getting a boost gauge, doing a proper service (don't pay for it, total waste of money for a couple hours work): change oil, spark plugs, filter, do compression test. And getting a dyno run so you can see if the AFR's and stuff are all good. That way you'll know whether your Coop is healthy.

Put a boost guage in, if your EBV is stuffed it could well only be running base boost (.6bar) regardless of the chip it has

You need to know what boost you are running as a first step.

You can't really get much more old school than a 16vt engine. I find it quite aggressive when it kicks at 3k, especially running Dinks chip.

I had my 16vt for about a month now and im kind of findin the same. Its my first turbo'd car but about 2 years ago i had a ep3 cvic type R and that felt 2-3 times faster (both standerd) I have only done a few things to the coupe.. bailes dv, custom fit de-cat Exhaust and pannel filter.
I also relise that off the line like first 3-4 seconds my lil brothers 1.1 fiesta is faster but butthe at 3k im gone.
Im just hopeing iswhat we call TURBO LAG becouse i sure i carnt b this bad.. I hoping it just in need of a good service. I have already chngedhe plugs as I avebeenadvisd that it maybe miss fireing. I have done the water on the manifold test and it doesn't same to be.
I am having the car looke at on the wee end and a servic to I think. The car seem to havea lumpy tick over so also going to have the icv cleaned and see if that makes a difference. But if any one has any more hits I would be great full,
I also have to add that I love her, she's a great car carn't go any were with out people asking what she is and most girls think its a Ferrari lol great stuff wink
