I was at the Geneva show this March, and a few high end cars there were sporting matte metallic paint schemes, which looks pretty slick. Here's a pic of an X6 which may become a BMW production colour

So, as I need to get a few body panels done, I was thinking of seeing whether getting this done would be much more expensive. Has anyone any ideas of whether many places do this, and how much it might be?

Not actually threatening to do it with mine but always thought a Pearlescent white LE would look fabbo with the graphite bits and red leather.

Those pearlescent white ones in Europe do look very nice (saw one the other day near Wantage).

I remember seeing a brand new matt black BMW M5 20 years ago when I was at college. That car always stuck in my mind; never seen that kind of paint on car a again

rub yours down with 2000 grit paper and spray matt laquer on it. Obviously not out of a can but mixed 2 k formula. Its the laquer thats matt not the basecoat underneath

not all cars can carry off a matte paint scheme. u need some really aggressive lines/angles to be able to pull it off. im not sure if the coupe can...
