Absolutely no point in uprating the wastegate actuator on a standard turbo, as it runs out of steam after about 5k rpm anyway

You can tell it's saturday laugh

anyway, as Nigel said there's no point.

also im sure the standard turbo should be on boost well before 3k.

Ben

As Benny says, if you're not getting boost until after 3,000rpm, you have a fault somewhere else.

It could be that the wastegate is sticking, or the bleed valve is venting boost to the wastegate too early.

Of course it could be that you don't have a standard turbo - are you absolutely sure its standard?

When it is running perfect the coupe is fast, even my 16vt with a slipping clutch frows me to back of my seat and let me tell you a rs-turbo[your other thread]would seem slow to a good running 16vt or 20vt

My 16vt and other I drove boost spool up at 2 and 3 quaters, and proply come in at 3[revs].

Think of the age of car, somethings will need cleaning or replacing before car will run perfect. Especialy if prevoius owner didn't have same love for it you have.

Have you heard any noises from under bommit? like high pitch wistle or something like that?

i do have a good gauge and no funny sounds from the car ..100% no love from other owner ,i got it cheep as it was in a bad way ,but loved its looks and thought it be nice and fast , any common bits i could look at or clean that might help ..

i will pop out in half hour and see when it boosts up... when should it boost up and to what bar

Best to look in maintence and how to section, Things like the idle valve i'm told should be cleaned twice a year. Also the water tank top should be replaced once every three years. I hear peolpe clean ebv and other things too.

Everything you need will be in the mensioned section above.

Would like to say my advise is what I would do and advise I have been given, may or maynot be fact.

If I was to upgrade turbo to a cossie T34, would I ghet any benifits for upgradeing the actuater?

Could someone explain how it works please, i'm not a mod novice but this is my first forced induction so i'm learning all the time.

Thanks.

On the subject of actuators (i'll probaly get shot down in flames here but a mate of mine was telling me about this smile ).

The actuator is fed off the turbo housing. The inlet manifold has less pressure than at the turbo so in esscence the actuator is operating at a lower pressure.

So what i'm getting at is, you could connect the actuator to the inlet manifold to get the true pressure it should be operating at. He's done it and said its quite a common thing to do when tuning, i've never heard of it?
