Getting a set of four tyres for my car in the very near future. The best deal i have so far is for Goodyear eagle f1. The company is called event-tyres.co.uk and they come to your home or work to fit them for you. They can fit all four for £325.96. Is this about the best i will get price wise? I'm not specifically after this tyre but i beleive they are pretty good. Advice appreciated. Cheers guys. Craig

Well Camskill have Toyo T1Rs in 205/50/16 for £60 each at the moment. Admittedly, that is delivered price only, but at £240 to your door, that still leaves you plenty of spare cash to get them fitted for far less than £325. They are also a very well respected tyre that is perhaps a better all rounder than the F1 ;\) . They truly are a bargain at that price \:o !

That'll be the £2 FCCUK discount then \:D ! I wasn't sure whether they would do it on top of an already discounted price, but it sounds like the do .

I went to price up tyres today at a local garage.
The guy said they didnt do Toyos, and that they couldnt compete on the price I got for Falkens online. But he reccomended Firestones for £76 a corner fitted. He also said that Millennium are good for £68 a corner?

Ive heard these are crap..did I hear right?

i cant comment on the firestones - the only tire that people had in stock locally in the right size was something called a GT Champiro?? and they wanted £78 fitted a corner.

to be honest I'd check with local places on fitting costs, and if reasonable go for the toyos of camskills. great tyre for the price. will deffo be better than the Milleniums for the same price. (if you can get some where to fit for £10 a corner)

I spoke to National tyres today on the phone and they fit tyres for £10.50 each which is pretty good i think. That makes 4 toyo tr1s £280 all in.

I've used both http://www.blackcircles.co.uk and http://www.mytyres.co.uk and take them to Bracknell Tyres who will fit a set of 4 for less than £30 inc balancing, valves, old tyre disposal, and VAT. Some of these mail order places also quote fitted prices, but rip you off on fitting, £10 is the max you should pay IMHO

Run a mile from Champiro, cheap and nasty, my first coop had these, horrible they were, rock hard, no grip, no feeling, eeuurrgghhh \:s

If you search on the web, you will find a Boxster forum that had serious issues with Champiro, if that forum still exists, I read it about 4 years ago.

^ I find myself, embarrassingly, having to agree with Jim on that: avoid Champiro at all costs!! \:\/

Run, don't look back, don't blink, don't reach for your wallet, just run away and keep running! \:o

Awful tyres, truly awful \:\(

Ps. I've witnessed a brand new Champiro shred within 40 miles of leaving the tyre depot \:o

I've always used Pirelli P6000 205/50s mainly because that's what I bought on it. They seem to wear quite quickly esp the fronts which I would expect and they're usually quoted near enough a ton each corner s&f. Last time they had a first come first served half price sale at Farmer's so I queued for an hour! and got all four. A week later I ran the rear o/s over a badly lit island and had to replace it at full price \:mad\: °\(
What's the opinion on Pirellis?

The Pirelli is a good tyre on some cars, can't comment on the coupé. The one thing you have to watch with them is that there are two different types of P6000.........one is a lot more expensive but if you mix and match the handling goes to pot!

The only reason I know this is a garage s&f four Pirelli P6000's for my daily driver and one was the expensive one (they didn't notice or charge me for it) but the handling was appalling. I had to swap over to get any sort of decent control back \:\(

I used P6000s for the last eleven years, but I've just tried Michelin Pilots instead (since I needed four). They were slightly more expensive - a fiver a corner or so - but they are both grippier and a *lot* quieter.

Dunno how they wear yet, but so far I'm happy.

That said, I'd have no gripes about putting the P6000s on a coupe.

How do you get the discount, do you need to call them or can you do it via the website ?

BTW Blackcircles and Mytyres are over £10 more.

Ditto for that question as I replaced all 4 of mine from Camskill earlier this year but didn't realise that there was a discount????? It isn't listed on the fccuk discount page.

To be fair they messed up the order and sent me 6 tyres by mistake and let me keep the extra 2 as it would have cost them more to retrieve than they'd have made on them. So I flogged them.

Up yours Photobucket.

I just ordered two tyres and added a comment asking for the fccuk discount in the 'notes' box, we'll see if they notice and apply it before charging my card....
