I would like to nominate myself to receive this years Truffle award. A few weeks ago one of my HID bulbs bit the dust. I did the whole swapping bulbs over bit to check it wasn’t the ballast and it wasn’t. So, sent it back to be changed (by hids4u who were super fast in dealing with it and no quibbles) and ran about with one hid and one halogen in the mean time.

Fitted my new bulb last weekend and was extremely disappointed to find it was a yellowy colour despite being labelled 6000K. \:\( Spoke to hids4u again and they said to send it back. So on Saturday I set about removing it again. As I came to once again fit the halogen bulb, I realised my mistake.

During the contortionist activity of fitting the bulb, I’d put it in the full beam lamp by mistake. \:D That’s what you get for having no rubber covers on the plastic casing I suppose! All sorted now though and running fine. \:D

Can someone fill me in on the origins of the truffle awards? What did he do to get it named after him?

Slight complication with a strut brace IIRC.

Slight being that the car needed transporter assistance after fitting was attempted by said owner \:D

Ha ha, not something really stupid like forgetting to stick the nut back on the top of the strut?!?!

Oi! I leave the forum alone for 1 day and u start spreading viscous rumours about me (yes the thick syrupy kind).

I bought a strut brace and decided that nothing could go wrong if i just followed the forum's how-to in installing it.

Anyways i fitted it backwards basically and was back on the forum asking why it was not going over the power steering resovoir. After being made aware of my mistake i tried to rectify the problem however the removed nuts would not go back in and instead i did a fine job of mashing the thread.

End result: a call to the local specialist and a a flat bed truck being sent out to take it away through fear that the top mounts would come off if i tried to drive it.

The flat bed driver was thourily confused when he asked me to help him push it out of the driveway and i just hopped in and started her up. "oh the engine works? why do u need a flatbed?"
