Had my new stereo gear in now for a while and i am trying to set it all up properly but im having a few problems with the connection between the headuint and amp.

I have a Alpine 9855R glidetouch amo with 4v preouts and and Alpine MRV F505 75watt*4 amp which has a switch to accept 4v preout inputs.

My problem is that when i select 4v input on the amp, im sure its far too quiet. I can turn the headuint upto 35(max) and although it sounds good it doesnt seem that loud. The gain setting on the amp also has no effect on the volume.

However if I switch it back to the normal input setting on the amp, it will blow my ears out and the gain has a massive effect on the volume.

I'm sure something is wrong here but I've tried every setting on both amp and headunit and it hasnt helped. The amp manual says that if I use a headunit with low preout voltage the 4v setting on the amp will sound quiet but im sure the 9855r has 4v preouts so wht gives.

A long boring post but any help as to what could be the problem??

Is there an option to turn the internal amp in the headunit off? That might give you the full bifta on the pre-outs.

Perhaps the HU has a setting to give the 4v preout, as not all amps will accept it.

It looks like you can switch off the internal amp too, which could conceivably change the preout level.
