We had some discussion with Lancaster's club coordinator at the NEC last week; we're waiting for Joe to get back from Assen to get some photos to see what their valuers have to say. Otherwise, their responses were positive at the stand.
Watch this space, I guess. That's good news for the Club and Owner's

I wouldn't call £25k a fig. Not sure if you fully understand the principle of agreed valuation or not but it's not about how much you can get for your shed, it's about getting the true value of invested money into your car back to replace it with a like for like replacement in the event of a total loss. Yep. Same as Footman James. Mine is no where like your wonderful machine Clintos, but as mine is a rolling restoration, even my agreed valuation as of 2016 is £5k.

Watch this space, I guess. Well after being insured with Lancaster last year with an agreed valuation of 20K, I decided to extend my cover with them for 2017 only to be told after they took my money for increasing the agreed valuation to 29k that they were only willing to provide agreed valuation for 9k. When asked why, they just said that the new insurer did not do agreed valuations????? This left me with two choices; accept the 9k certificate or cancel my policy. I instructed Lancaster to cancel my policy with immediate effect and demanded a full refund on the premium paid without any admin costs or charge for the month I had the car on cover with them. I will add that I did threaten to make an official complaint to the financial ombudsman if they did not comply with my demand due to the breach in contract being with them. Yesterday I was informed that they had cancelled my policy with immediate effect and a full refund given within the next 5-10 working days (unfair I know but at least they accepted the terms of my cancellation). Having no insurance cover at all yesterday afternoon, I frantically searched for an insurer who could provide me with the cover I wanted and ended up taking cover with Adrian Flux at a premium of 644 for an agreed valuation of 29k on the coupe with a 5000mile/year limit, European cover and driving any other vehicle also at fully comp cover providing the car is insured and isn't registered at my address. Additionally, all mods including hybrid turbo, mapping, clutch, lowering springs, exhaust and Azev C alloy wheels declared. I know its expensive and be a bit of a pain but I finally got the cover I wanted with someone who seems to tick all the boxes, Lancaster on the other hand.............beware!

^^^ this is suspiciously like a pattern - first they do agreed values then they don't Any idea which company Lancaster use? mine was with Markerstudy through Lancaster but now with Equity Red Star through Adrian Flux

Interesting.....it was ERS with whom I had an agreed value for a few years through Glynwood, then 6 weeks after renewal last year they decided not to cover that way as it's parked on the public road. Now Classic Line who also use ERS has quoted me agreed value no problem, and at a reduced cost - still parked in same place They're at it!

ClassicLine use exactly the same company as Glynwood, i.e. ERS. I liked dealing with them as the service was more personal but it started to take quite a long time for things to happen. Also they wouldn't do an agreed value as I park mine on the street but ClassicLine do - with ERS The latter's quote was £100 less too.

Just had renewal paperwork from Glynwood. I spoke to Phil at their office, he dropped price down to a 10% increase from last year to £274 but breakdown cover and salvage removed from the policy. Told this is a national decision by their insurers. Still do agreed value.
This is for 5000 miles per year ( could drop to 3000 I think if that makes much difference) 20v turbo plus 2000. 43000 mileage
Any suggestions, comments? I need to renew by 16th May.
I have asked Glynwood/ Academy to comment. This is not what was agreed when we originally set up the club insurance scheme that they took over.

I emailed them last night and this morning was told that ERS (the insurers) rep called in to see them last Thursday and advised Glynowood/Academy that, with immediate effect, any new or renewed policies will not have the benefit of the Breakdown cover and salvage retention on the policy. They have decided to withdraw these benefits from all their scheme type policies, not just our Fiat Coupe Club policy.
Glynwood's manager went on to tell me that "they have approached a few other insurers to see if this is something that they can look at for us. Any policies that all already in force will still have these covers, it is only polices renewed or incepted henceforth."
I will update Club members on any developments.

I've called up earlier as my renewal is up and the guy on the phone mentioned about the breakdown cover & retention policy before I even asked. I've said that the retention policy is a bit of a sticking point, so will have to get a couple of quotes to see if anyone else will do this.

I've got my X1/9 insured through Hagerty who include the breakdown and retention cover we need Alexis. May be worth talking to them.

I was told that this would be something that has been removed by either the insurer, or the broker
Sadly the latter was what I was told by my present insurer.

Gone with Classicline. Similar price to Glynwood and have salvageable retention and the policy is through ERS
