Mr Ecclestone could be heading through the F1 exit this month, or even this week, according to the BBC. The report also suggests a liaison role with the teams for Ross Brawn. Could we see the dawning of a new erase of cooperation and prosperity for F1 - and better value for fans?

quote "Asked about his future, he said: “My days in the office will be getting quieter now. Maybe I will attend a Grand Prix sometime in the future.
"I still have many friends in Formula 1, and I still have enough money to afford to attend a race.”
Cheeky bugger, most fans can't afford to attend them!

We all like to call Bernie (me included) but I wonder what it will be like without him!? He did sort of make it what it is. I would really like to get my hands on a good warts and all biography covering his life from hes early days in racing through becoming a team owner, promoting F1, getting TV rights etc etc. anyone know of such a tome?

...He did sort of make it what it is... What? An overpriced, single-manufacturer-led sequential borefest? The whole point of F1 at the moment is the enrichment of the rights holders, and nothing at all to do with the racing. The problem is that the new owners will see it all the same way... have you heard them? "We'd like more pre-and-post race crap, with lots of adverts, and even more expensive PAYG and live tickets"[1] I'm all in favour of bringing back the old euro-tracks and getting rid of the newer 'I have a beeellion, please to make new track' places - but to be honest if the racing isn't there, what's it all about? [1] I may have paraphrased a bit.

New chairman is an ex Rupert Murdoch man, I think that says what direction F1 will go.

Britain......£179
Why so much more?
It's generally accepted that the British Grand Prix is one of the only ones (if not THE only one) that receives zero funding from national government. Despite the multi-million-pound technological industry in the UK that F1 fosters, the government sees no merit in backing the flagship event. Although I'm no fan of Silverstone as a circuit (for spectating), I do feel sorry for the (perpetually cash-strapped and abused) custodians, whose only option for paying the previous rights'-holder to keep the race has been to shaft the punters. I hope this changes, but it's hard to see how it will.

Uk racegoers were still sat on grass or maybe a little concrete with plastic seat bases fastened down (thats after they'd mastered parking in unmarked muddy fields) until a few years ago. I can see your point though. i didn't realise they were so cash strapped and to put things in context: Adam Ant £77.00 Black Sabbath £77.00 to £550.00 James Blunt £72.55 Killers Hyde Park VIP tx £299.90
