Hi Guys, I have a meta alarm system (round fobs) on my 1999 20vt and whenever I open the boot with the key (fobs don't work!), the alarm goes off. I've tried taking the fuse out of this blue holder.. I hope that's right?! and that's stopped the siren sounding, but the indicators etc.. all flash for a minute or so. is there a way to totally disable the alarm, as I use the key anyways! as per every other coop I've owned.

Sometimes it can be hidden behind a sheet of vinyl liner material above the fuse box near the bulkhead, you really need to go in with a torch, get your hand up there and have a dig around. Or follow the loom from the light blue connector beside the fuse box, as that's where the alarm module connects.

disconnected the siren under the bonnet and the problem is gone (for now!) Can you hear a relay clicking noise under the dash?

Suspect you resolved this johnnyk?
If not would look very hard - the module can be tucked right up under the dash as Joe says-and you need to hunt for it.
Can I hijack the post a bit?
My coupe suddenly does not like starting- and just clicks rapidly- with all the various relays clicking away.
Thoughts were battery dead- so new one bought and no change.
A gentle bump start with cluth up indices the starter motor to turn as normal and she comes to live.
A sudden new occurence is the left hand front and rear indicators coming on and staying on when the fobs (round fob 99 car and alarm) is locked.
Its not done that before.
I can hear lound clicking outside the car- and smoke!!! (very worrying from back left bulkhead of engine near chod) and inside v loud clicking of relays.
Battery is rude health.
Alarm was overhauled 3 years ago by the alarm guru on the foum pages.
Any first thoughts? I'm struggling to think the alarm AND the starter have gone at the same time.
Thanks in advance.
MM
