I'm looking to start doing a bit of this at some point soon. I've been reacquainting myself with programming (mostly Java but a bit of C) over the last couple of years after a 30 year hiatus (Excel VB macros aside). I'll probably start with Android but if successful I might look at porting to iOS and Windows mobile.

Anyone on here do this sort of thing and have any hints or tips? I've been reading Android based tutorials that are Eclipse based which would suit me as I've been using Eclipse for my PC based projects.

Up yours Photobucket.

Oh and ideally a development environment that will work in Windows and Linux. Worst case Windows only as I don't have Linux available on both of the machines that I use most. I tend to use Linux to write stuff on my main machine (which is dual boot) but my laptop is Windows only.

I've toyed with it, but the hassle of it isn't for me... there's a new(ish) unified Android Studio which works on anything, though I haven't tried it.

That looks like the route, a bit more reading reveals that Google aren't contributing to the Eclipse plugin as of the back end of last year. Much as I probably won't be developing anything fantastically bleeding edge I might as swim with the current as oppose to against it.

The windows version is a crummyinternetconnectionbusting 1.1GB though. shocked
