I'm getting a bit fed up with these nuisance calls to my mobile which are usually to do with PPI as far as I can tell (I never answer them, but Googling the number usually shows they are nuisance PPI calls or similar). So whilst I have blocked these numbers, what they do now is fake a different caller-ID with a local area dialling code, presumably to make you think it's someone local that you know. For example, I get a call that shows up as 01344 244261, an unknown number to me. It diverts to HulloMail (cheaper than T-Mobile answerphone, ie: free) which reports a missed call with a different number 01792 917551. But it's also happening at home on the land line, with a number like 01276 9xxxxx which appears to be a new chunk of never used before numbers starting with 9. I wish these people would go and get a proper job

I hope working on trying to stop it rather than trying to make it easier for the nuisance callers?

I hope working on trying to stop it rather than trying to make it easier for the nuisance callers? Yes we're trying to stop them using what looks like a genuine STD code to mask their originating number. Unfortunately it's not something that can be done in a short space of time.

my girl had an horrific motorbike accident on Thursday 27th August last year and it reached the papers on bank holiday Monday. I answered my girls phone at the hospital that day about 3 times with the opening line being we believe that you have recently been involved in an accident. I phoned the police officer in charge of the case as I hadnt even contacted her insurance and he confirmed that the local police forces sell the information........tvvats!
