Took my coupe to a local garae that do power runs and diagnostics today. The coupe made 295hp 285 ftlbs at 1.5 bar. Nice and even no dips or fluctuations throughout the rev range.

The spec is
Flea mapped
3" downpipe + blueflame exhaust and decat
Ramair filter
4bar fpr
Evo 5 fmic with the shortcut piping route
Gt28r60 turbo

Anyone else with a similar spec get similar results?

Cheers, Jim

I know! And to my shock it only made 295. Don't get me wrong its bloody quick but not 350 quick. The guy doing the power run believes these turbos are rated at 300 anyway. Which isnt what Ive previosly read. So overall a bit surprised. He mentioned it running slightly lean but nothing to be concerned about.

Weird

Mine was dyno'd with that turbo and that down pipe at 347 last November

Flea probably has the graph somewhere

Are you running a decat? Mine had a different intercooler, can't think of much else that would make a difference tbh

Yeh decat and evo5 fmic. Neither would make a 50hp difference

Did I not tune your car recently with a totally different spec or have you recently purchased bits from Adam's car?

He bought my turbo and downpipe

Why the massive difference in power?

Your Coupe was exceptional, indeed the most powerful GT28R turbo setup I have ever tuned. Don't forget we also fully rebuilt your engine to a high spec (albeit for the previous owner back in 2011), and with the complete upgrade package it gave very good performance. Most GT28R set-ups are not that good! Take a look at the dyno league, every car is different with variations from 295-345bhp, all with the same turbo and boost pressures. Many make less power than your car with bigger turbos. Tuning is not so simple, you can't just swap parts and expect to see exactly the same results. Everything needs to be fully optimised, not least the mapping specifc to each car.

Every car is different. Even the same car on the same dyno on a different day will make different results.

My personal opinion is that a GT28R is 320bhp max anyway....

Now in the 400+ bhp club!

A classic example here:

https://www.facebook.com/fcperformancetu...89846617820544/

Totally stock 20vt engine that I tuned 3 years ago (yes stock pistons, rods, head and cams!). It features a GT2871R turbo @ 1.4bar with 3" exhaust, FMIC, pump etc, and Stage 4 mapping making 421bhp on Dyno Dynamics.

Every car reacts differently, even standard factory cars I have seen 40bhp difference.

Flea, stay focused! smile
There is some bug in the DD chart, real peak power is atleast 30bhp less. Just to make info correct. Great results anyway!

Yes it should have been run in SHOOT_6F for 5 cylinder and it would have made more power!!

Artur's car also went on another dyno and made 438bhp. This was at Wallace Performance (ABerdeen), in fact Matty the operator used to have his own Coupe 20vt, so I do not think there is a problem with any of the results smile

As above, I can confirm that.

Tuning is a fine art as I've learned over several years tinkering with cars, specifically being a Coupe owner for the last few years.

Same platform differs in output and efficiency, this applies to any motor I think.

I've gone the way of "trial and errors" since I first drove a totally standard 20VT, YOU as a driver can feel the car BEST and any upgrade you apply can be best verified by YOU, as you have your starting point and target set by your personal preferences.

Saying that, I'd strongly recommend FC Performance as your software provider, also seek advise from the well known and reputable Coupe tuners on here.
