Opinions please guys,
A few weeks ago a car in front of me flicked a stone up and smashed my windscreen. I don't have screen cover so have had to pay full price.
I walk into a windscreen company and got a quote ,Xfor screen and x for the seal. I'm pretty hard up at the moment so it had to wait a few weeks until I had the money. I finally booked it and they confirmed the price .
The screen was fitted today (pretty sloppy) and the invoice handed over, X price PLUS vat!!
I am spitting mad. Two shouting matches so far and they can't grasp why I'm so wound up,

Unfortunately the motor trade usually quotes prices exclusive of VAT.
It's still a bit naughty of them not to make it clear on the quotation.

If it's sloppy get them to refit it, might be worth the asking price then!

if you had it in writing and it dosnt state plus vat then legally the price quoted includes vat

Ok to be fair not too bad a job,I was just in rant mode , I only got a verbal quote, but it's still not on.
It was quite clear I'm a retail customer, I don't give a rats what the ex vat price is, when I ask for a price I want to be told how much money I have to put in their hand when the job is done. it's deception by omission!
On a positive note , I had a good poke around when he had the screen and scuttle panel out and not a single spot of rust.

Get the hose out and pour water all around the edge of the screen. I can't remember for sure which company, so mentioning no names but it's the big one that recently closed many premises and focused on mobile fitting. Was on Watchdog. Loads of customers complaining about leaky screens.

I've just had a run in with AG
3 attempts to fit the right screen, all wrong or pre-damaged. Ended up costing them a hire van for 10 days and me a load of arse ache. If an insurance policy has them attached to it as the windscreen Co. I will pay more for the insurance so as to NOT deal with them again!
