Has anyone here fitted a GT28 series turbo on a 16VT? I'm looking for fitment ideas, adapter plates, T3 housings, manifolds etc.

My friend had a gt28rs on his 16VT (stock exhaust manifold)and AR.63 housing.

With this housing : http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/t3%205%20bolt%20mau.jpg

and this (tiny) flange (2.25") : http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/Catalog%20Images/Wastegate/ATP-WGT-026_450.jpg

It's not the best combination/free flowing but with all bolt-on (fmic, 60mm exhaust and regrind cams) it outputs around 330-350 hp at 1.5 bar, full boost at 3200rpm, not much lag.

We are currently upgrading to a higher setup (gtx2871r) with this 3" flange and 70mm exhaust(you will need custom downpipe/flange) : http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/Catalog%20Images/Wastegate/ATP-WGT-023_450.jpg

Hi Julien

So you are using the T3 0.63 housing and you get 1.5 bar at 3200 rpm? that seems fantastic!

Yes, in forth gear ; in 2nd and 3rd I think it's more 3500rpm (with SP 98 fuel). Wastegate pressure is set at 1.0 bar, this may help for spool (and boost is controlled by the original solenoid).

To give you an idea this is against a stage 2 335i (390hp on dyno)

I was really impressed with the instant spool and the power it has even with the small 2.25" flange and exhaust.
