Evening - I'm sure this has been covered a million times but I want to upgrade the limited standard rear brakes - don't want to spend a fortune but does anyone have any recommendation.

There's little point, as they do very little work

Fit decent pads and discs and that's about it.

If you think the rears aren't working hard enough, consider adjusting the rear brake compensator valve to allow a bit more effort to the rear end.

Be careful though - over-do it and you'll find the rears lock up under heavy braking, which can get "interesting"....

In my experience most of the issues with the rear brakes are caused by the brake compensator valve. It's too expensive to change with a new one, so here's what I've done on all my Italian cars. Decent brake discs and pads, complete rear calipers rebuild and isolation of the brake compensator valve. In its place I install a brake pressure reducers from Skoda Felicia(I don't know if it's the right word for that in English but I've attached a pic in the end of the post). After doing all of that, I have great rear brakes, they never get locked before the front ones even on the snowy/ice roads during the winter.

Hello

Basically I never sold my coop (it's been in the garage) and have been driving around in much more modern cars. However, I recently moved jobs from London to a more local location (Woking) and needed a car for the short commute. Thought I'd use the coupe - I love it, it's still really quick and brings a smile to my face... other than how totally crap the brakes seem to be. I've owned the car since 2003 so have always known about the "dodgy" brakes but I don't remember them being this terrible. Think I'll look at new discs, pads and callipers. It actually just passed its MOT and the brakes bizarrely passed but it just doesn't seem right - so soft and slow to stop.

It's called "feel".... wink - just press the middle pedal harder

That's a result of driving a modern car with the usual over-servo'd brakes

Having said that, the Brembos do tend to suffer from sticky pistons and also jammed pads - both would blunt performance very noticeably - probably worth a good overhaul to make sure everything is working as it should

id get the brakes over hauled and also new brake fluid because if its been sat there the brakes will be covered with rust etc so worth it plus not to expensive
