Does anyone have any good fixes to improve comfort on long journeys?

I can't get my lower back into a nice straight position without winding in the lumbar support which seems to be designed to inflict pain, and also there seem to be pressure points in the seat base on the Fiat and Alfa.

Presumably there's some science to getting the right position or is this the "Italian driving position" thing?

Try using a lumbar roll like this.

My wife uses one when she drives and it helps improve her comfort on longer jouirneys. Before buying one, try using a rolled up towel and see if that helps.

I too find the leather seats uncomfortable, since I broke my back: the lumbar support is just too high for me.

A thin small cushion ruins the looks but preserves the back...

Recaros would definitely be nice on the Coupe.
That lumbar roll looks good Bezzer - being able to place it would be good and - like Barnacle mentions - my spine curves in at a point lower than the lumbar support, so maybe getting up in the seat with some extra cushioning under would solve both issues?

I had one of these for my van! did the job but were a pain to keep in the right place as i did lots of short journeys at the time!

If you like them i would possibly stitch it in the right place!

Strangely i have always found the lumbar supports too Low! in the vans that had them but with my latest van Mitsubishi Outlander i have found it just right!

Bezzer's lumbar roll is, amazingly, almost exactly the same shape and volume as my cushion. I need the cushion at the base of the seat, though, not as they've shown it.

They have shown the lumbar roll in an odd position. Ideally it should be placed behind the upper part of your pelvis so you hips are pushed forward. It can feel strange when you first position it there.

As I said earlier, try a rolled up towel or even a cushion!

Its not just about the position of your upper body that causes the back pain. I find that I often drive with my legs tilting outwards and not straight to the pedals. This causes your hips to move forward and gives me back pain eventually. Obviously steering adjustment helps too.
