Can anyone suggest a better buy than this for £200?

Finlux 40" Smart TV ?

To be honest, I don't really want to pay for either smartness or Freeview, as our fabulous YouView box handles that, but these days it's hard to escape.

I wouldn't object to buying a better TV second hand for the same money, but I would ideally like more than one HDMI socket, a USB and some way (other than a headphone jack) of getting sound out.

That looks excellent value and in spite of not having come across Finlux before it seems to tick all the boxes and presumably enables you to have less plugged in to the back enhancing its aesthetic appeal.

Careful Jim, that unit has a glossy glass finish over the panel - it'll be a nightmare near any light sources or near a window.

No suggestions on alternatives unfortunately other than to pickup a used Sony Bravia. My brother in law gave me his old Bravia (a now 2 year old 47" jobbie) when they upgraded to a curvy Samsung telly, and its simply the muts nuts - unrivaled picture quality.

Ok, my list of should-do's is on the march..

1. F1 immersion
2. Cigarette-card footy strip collection

I bought one of these for the dining room wall a few months ago and can't fault it. If it's for a main tv though you would prob need a sound bar as the sound is a bit tinny.
5 year warranty if you can get to a RS store aswell.

Thanks one4seven - I'm not sure I can even get a Bravia second hand (in decent condition) for my budget.

Bilbo - very interesting, I've certainly heard of Blaupunkt! I can't find many reviews of it, but I like that it doesn't have too many built-in features, so hopefully I'm paying for just the telly!

It is a Samsung panel apparently. If you ring RS they are very knowledgable.

I was going to buy that Richer sounds model but the saw the Blaupunkt 40/148z at Tesco direct for £179. It's similar to the Richer sounds model but has Freeview HD too.

As per the reviews the TV sound is rubbish but it has optical out so I stuck it through my soundworks system. The display is basic but very good for h price.
