My car Pops + bangs on deceleration but no "flames" have ever come out, I'm asking because someone was saying it should spit flames with the decat and other bits.
I know the flames are due to un-burnt fuel so I'd assume my car is running either lean or perfect (not rich)?
My spec is - Gtech 2 chip, Stage 2 Hyrbid T28 water cooled Turbo, Uprated Front mount intercooler, Uprated Mocal Oil cooler, Uprated race clutch, Silicone Hose's, Boost gauge, Manual boost controller, 3" Longlife exhaust with stainless steel tubular manifold + Decat, Forge 004 Dumpvalve, Saab Injectors, Uprated Fuel Pump
Just wanted opinions, car seems to run fine BTW.

Unburnt fuel igniting in exhaust system. Basically explosions.Further up, so you'll not see flames. Not really good, in extreme cases in can knacker up your zorst. But believe it or not you can actually get the exhaust tuned to do this. I would imagine done properly would be better, but still I'd think a margin for error someway down the line. Not good for a road going car in my opinion & certainly an ear catcher for the boys in blue.
I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time

Thanks guys, I don't want the flames I was just thinking my car must running fine because it doesn't flame, whereas a lad was saying my car should be spitting flames.
At least I know more about it now.

My mates RB320 has a 3 inch straight through pipe and has been mapped to spit flames. I've not seen a coupe do it.
On a side note:
We compared cars recently and at around midnight (so very dark) the flames looked awesome.
However he did concede that my car sounds better than his at all revs, from spool right to the whistle induction roar and pops / crackles on high rev gear changes. I was pretty impressed as he is a true petrol head - from a ZX10R with carbon cans to a 500cc super moto on to the RB320 and finishing at a 550 bhp FQ320 (8).

A Coupe will flame with the right set-up on the overrun. Yes, i can confirm..... Had remap from you, 3" exhaust, GT28RS, 4b FPR, and so on......year ago i race 3 hours endurance race and it was spectacular for the visitors to see such a flames around our boring and short track.... This year i did another endurance, same big bang's and flames 15min's after the start, and everything is fine with the engine...... By running dog rich and messing up timing when there is no load... Modern engines simply arent designed to perform that way.
If modern engines had cat's removed and driven hard on track(even not remaped) it will produce flames as well....
