The owner of the car says she'll tick over but she won't rev. He's not a mechanic in any way so describing throttle position sensors and MAF's is going straight over his head. The injector light is on while running so there's a code to be read there which will hopefully tell him what the issue is.
His local mechanic has been out but their equipment reading anything so can anyone help with this?

Chaps name is Jimmy, number 07541 455979.

The most local forum member would be Dave aka "Submariner" fairly tech savvy, not sure if he could help?

I got the PM not sure how useful I am as I do not have a code reader especially if a Coupe Jedi Master cannot converse to solve the problem, there is little hope for me, I will text him this week get a bit more info/see where he is located etc. Failing that I shall point him towards a low loader to Rog, I guess.

Dave I can remote fix most issues but Jimmy really doesn't have a clue what things are under his bonnet hence the shout for help.

I'll give him a bell today saying we've had no luck with a code reader, and as you've said point him in the direction of Roger as I think that's his most local Coupe friendly garage.

Appreciate your reply wink

Thanks Dave thumb

I did wonder whether this is a yellow connector of death issue, it might have enough current to run the pump at low pressure for idle, and then cut as soon as the engine calls for more fuel.

When my rubber doughnut split on my inlet plenum, it did exactly the same, would idle ok but stutter and stall when I tried to drive it.

I would help but I'm over an hour's drive away. I had thought it could be a loose hose on the air inlet system, but that or a similar inlet doughnut split would not bring on the injector light would it, but that could be something else.

Thanks for the thought Dave, I know you have a code reader but as you say you're not exactly local so don't trouble you.

Solid injector can only be a number of things, ebv unplugged, TPS error so what ever it is it's simple otherwise it wouldn't idle which makes me think as you've said a pipe is off somewhere or pump power issue.

This is frustrating for both the owner and myself as I could probably diagnose the problem with in 5 minutes if the car was here.

TW is half an hour from me, I have diag cable and a vague idea of what's under the bonnet! I can pop down there at the weekend if he's still having trouble, it is a nice road there from mine smile

Joe, will you be around on the phone at the weekend at all? Otherwise I could head down there and do some simple diagnosis (read error codes, check for splits in doughnuts, ebv plugged in). Any way to easily diagnose the yellow connector problem other than cutting and soldering it to see if it fixes the problem?
