These boats come from all over Europe as well as Russia and Brazil. Ålesund was also the host port in 2001, over 400,000 visited the city at that time and the atmosphere was excellent. On the fjord just outside the city, all the vessels can be seen in the TSR ending parade.

http://www.tallshipsalesund.no/Ålesund will be really busy on Saturday 17th of July. It will be difficult to drive in the city, and impossible to park. We have an agreement with Rutebilhistorisk Association, who will use the veteran coaches to carry people to the city centre. In the city there will be a lot of people, with many attractions and stalls.
For those who want to drive their car on Saturday we offer a drive to Langevåg and
Devold fabrikken with its outlet stores, galleries, cafes, museums and Northern Europe's largest model railway. From here there is also a view of Alesund, and it is possible to see some of the ships from the tall ships race.
For those who plan a longer stay in Ålesund and want to do some exploring, we recommend the following:
Road trip to Godøyou with Alnes (the place where the baptism in the movie "Half Brother "was recorded). There is a lighthouse museum with a café and gallery. (link:
