Can anybody tell me if Halfords can make up rattle cans of our paint colours? I know that they can do some, but wondered if anybody had experience of this? Thanks

They can if they can find the paint code in their system, however getting some Crono paint was mission impossible...and no primer jokes !

Yes, used them many times for sprint blue and other colours when I used to spray rocker covers! I just repainted one of my rear light cups due to the usual oxidation and the match is very good!

I got a touch up sample from Halfords and instead of Scotts Green it was more like Lincoln Green.
It might be down to the competence of the employee though.

Scotts green metallic is very hard to match, but unless it's miles off then for a little touch up you should be OK.

My inky can was 99% good!

It's as much down to the primer colour being right and the weight of paint applied as the paint mix (within reason, I'm not saying sprint blue and speed pink could be matched via weight and primer).

I had some muppet mix up three different batches of paint in what was apparently 820a (ink black met) and every one was completely different and way off matching my paintwork. I then found a specialist in high Wycombe who matched it perfectly first time.

Agreed - local paint specialists were far better than Halfords.

The Halfords paint for Portofino blue was way too purple.

Who was the specialist in Wycombe. I may want some paint for my dash soon and will need it colour matched.

Seriously? Is that in a can?

I have a can of the Blu Sprint (Sprint Blue) the colour system is Holts and I have used it for last 2 years on and off, last time was yesterday re-doing the wheel arch by the front tyres. Spot on colour and good value with a Halfords Trade Card. The spray from the can is superb too and I have achieved some good results albeit on the small parts of the wheel arches on my 18 monthly treatment.

Well I too found that the BLU-Sprint (462) paint is a good match for my Sprint Blue. Interestingly my precise paint code (462/a) seemed to specify some Bertone paint confused Luckily I recalled the BLU-sprint description from this thread and went ahead.

I'd agree that the nozzle atomisation looked very good and all was fine until the nozzle randomly stuck open and the driveway, my hands and the air all turned blue censored grr I eventually got it to un-stick, so it lives to fight another day.

You may have to rush to get the rustoleum brand from b and q as stores countrywide are moving over to Valspar as main supplier and old ranges may be axed.

Also just to add, I've had good and bad fro Halfords - had a touch up pen mixed at the Burton branch and it was more green than sprint blue.

Then i had some done at the Wyvern Branch in Derby (in a tin) and it was spot on. So much so i later went back and bought some more when it came to doing a little colour coding due to fitting the LE kit.

It all depends on who you get behind the counter...

I found the sprint blue I got from Halfrauds was lighter than what was already on the car, i could understand if it was darker than what was on the car, obviously allowing for fading over the years.

I had three cans mixed and they were all lighter than what was on the car, that is not to say the paint already on the car was original.

Morelli i think they have a few branches other than High Wycombe, maybe one more local to you.

Had a couple of cans of Scottie from Halfrauds. They let me go compare the first attempt which was wrong but had two different sets of ingredients. Second attempt was close enough to do the centre dash and not notice its difference from the dash strip (too much anyway).

I have used then for Alfa Rosso 130 with the same issue - 4 different blends but ended up with an excellent match.
