This is for my Fathers 500bhp Plus.

So they need to be fairly good, although he will NOT be doing any track days.

So please recommend me some good discs and pads please.....

I haven't done this for myself for a while so im a bit out of touch now and even when I did I had the DBA 4000 heat treated which they don't make anymore.

Thanks

Google doesn't bring much up.

Ebay there is MTEC and Brembo discs, both drilled or grooved OR drilled AND grooved which sounds nice.

Anyone have any experience with either??

Brembo discs are a lot more expensive which tells me something, but not sure if they are too expensive and if they are worth the extra money???

Pads, looking at Ferodo ds2500 or possibly Pagid, but again the Pagid might be a little expensive and again not sure if they are worth the extra for my Fathers type/style of driving and the Ferodo might be ample.

Ive had Pagid Blue in the past with no complaints, but once delivered to your door your looking at around 210 quid!

I'm running DS2500 at the moment - they are OK, but they certainly don't have the bite of Pagids - they are quite "wooden" when cold and only get decent when there's some heat in them. By comparison, Pagids tend to be good when cold, improving to amazing when hot

Thanks for the input Nigel, that is definitely some food for thought.

What about discs??

I have the MTEC Grooved and drilled discs all round which where a big improvement on my standard discs. However I feel the Ferodo pads I have tends to glaze over too easily?

I also run the MTEC discs - they are only the second set that I have failed to warp

However, with the Carbotech pads, I did this to the discs in about 10,000 miles - not sure if it was the pad's fault, or the disc, but it wasn't pretty

Blimey! That does not look pretty, I would hazard a guess at the pads, as it looks like something super abrasive has been taking bits out of those discs.

I think im leaning towards the MTEC Discs as they seem very reasonably priced and a few of you are using them here. I can tell my Father that he can add the change from the discs to the pads and just go with Pagid blue or yellow. Good all round pad, performance and life.

Mtec brakes here with the EBC Yellows. Still bedding in. The combo has alot of stopping power I find.

I also use MTEC + EBC Yellow. Works really well. Not as good as Carbotech but great for track days and street racing smile

Surely drilled discs and high friction pads mean they warp easier due to the extra heat generated?

I only use genuine fiat pads due to the embarrassment caused by mega brake squeal! are there any non standard pads that don't!?

I've used Tarox 114 pads paired to Tarox F2000 rotors that don't squeal.
