I put a deposit on a Bravo 1.6 120t 2 weeks ago, I was informed that the car would be ready the following Saturday. Thursday I had a call saying it had failed the MOT for a glow plug / coil (sales guy didn't sound like he really knew his stuff). Today the wife received a call saying it'll be another week as another coil has failed and they have deemed that it requires a cam belt. The car is full dealer history with 50k and 4 years old. I think it's a 5 year belt life. Should I be afraid? I'm worried the belt has snapped moving it about or something!

Unusual for a glowplug to fail after just 50k miles I would have thought.
I didn't have to change them on a BX diesel until about 150K as I recall.
I have looked in the service schedule for the Bravo, it is saying "Regardless of the mileage, the timing belt must be replaced every 4 years for heavy duty usage (cold climates, town use, long periods of idling) or at least every 5years."
Thank goodness my car has a chain.

Hmm so belt was due, I'll let them off with that. Think I'll give them a call and see what's what... Not too sure on modern diesels!

There is a mileage related figure in the schedule too, just much higher than this car was doing.

Snapped glow plug (s) meaning head off and new belts etc.
Is glow plug fatigue a common diesel thing? Don't fancy having to swap the head if / when it requires new plugs!

Personally I would walk away having been on the receiving end of a fiat diesel failure. Plus they haven't be very upfront with you.
