R.I.P Dude.

Massive loss to Thrash and music in general.

Proof that being bitten by a spider DOES NOT give you super powers.

Dreadful music, but a fabulously rock n roll way to die!

Heard about this earlier, bad news indeed.

Last couple of albums were the best they'd done in a long time, but with lombardo having left now I'd be surprised if they release anything interesting again.

Saw them about 6 times over the years, 1st time being on the Reign in Blood tour in '87 and last only a few years ago and they were still a great live band.

Feels like I'm getting to the age where all these Rock and Metal legends are dying off frown

They might sound dreadful to you tongue but until you try playing their songs you'll never realise just how much stamina and skill it takes to play those songs! I know my arm was killing me on a couple of Slayer covers I did a while ago evil

I read in the soundtrack to the apocalypse booklet that a live set would only last twenty minutes if it wasn't for tom araya and his speeches in between songs. Because they use to play so fast live.

The live DVD "Still Reigning" is awesome, the full Reign in Blood album recorded live in 2004 + a few other bonus tracks in the extras section. Highly recommended if you're into a bit of Slayer!

And yeah, that was cool Baz76, I like the Crazy Train cover too... had to keep watching to see if you played the Randy Rhodes solo too. wink I saw Ozzy live for first time in '86 but unfortunately was a few years too late to see Randy.

As for babbling on between songs taking up half the gig time, two folk come to mind... Mike Muir from Suicidal Tendencies and Michelle Shocked, they are both 10x worse than Tom Araya. smile

@GrahamL - I was more impressed with my solo to Ozzy's "Over The Mountain" but Sony took a dislike to me and blocked it furious
