Prob the ISO adaptor wired incorrectly.
Sounds like you have the perm live connected where the switched live should be...

That is the standard wiring for the coupe There is no switched live!
Best bet is to take a fused feed from the ciggy lighter, one of the first things I did on both my copues. I did this.

I want to fit a new head unit to my coupe 97 car, but my ciggy lighter is perminantly live as well?
Is this normal? what can i do?

I have arranged for my stereos to stay on when the ignition is off as I like to listen to the radio (Test Match Special or Planet Rock) when parked up. To flatten the battery you'd have to leave it on for quite a long time. The only time I've flattened a battery is when the boot light stayed on....
