Apologies if this has been asked before just wondered if all the love was just for the Coupé or whether we liked the rest of their output?

Although the Coupé is my first Fiat, my mum has owned 3 Fiats previously; a Cinquecento SX, a Mk1 Punto and a 2004 Panda so I've always been appreciative of the brand.

I also have a soft spot for the Alfa 147 (came very close to buying one before the Coupé).

Perceived reliability is not a worry for me, I tend to find problems are exaggerated by people, I've owned 7 Rovers and only 1 had Head Gasket failure, yet believe the masses and they are all rubbish. None of Mum's Fiats were particularly troublesome, the Punto did have a recall on it but the dealer was excellent, collected the car, did the work, valeted it and dropped it back in 1 day.

Spotted an Abarth 695 Tributo Ferarri the other day in yellow. Those things are really nice.

So, who has a soft spot for Multiplas?? Haha!

I'm fond of the Panda 100HP and love the look of the X1/9.

The first one I liked was the 130
I would have liked a 128 3P if they hadn't got all expensive.

And an X1/9 naturally.

The original Panda is a total classic, and I like some of the modern Stilos, Grande Puntos etc.

I can't really think of an Alfa I don't like.

LOL@ JKD's reply

The Multipla is a very good car, same chassis as Coupe?
Not sure why Fiat aren't replacing it they seem to be giving up so many classes of car at the moment. No replacement for the Multipla, Idea, Sedici or Croma. Surely sales will drop as a result!!

Fiat 128 Sport 1300
Fiat 132 2000
Fiat 20VT
Fiat 20VT
Fiat 20VT Plus

All were great cars to drive in their time. Pre-cat Fiats used to have a cool love rasp to the exhaust note.

Having said that there have been some seriously yuck Fiats as well.

To continue the Italian theme;

Lancia Beta 2000 HPE
Alfa 33 Gold Cloverleaf

Page isn't long enough to lst ALL my Fiat Group cars, admittedly majority are Lancias (must have owned more than 40, probably near 50), a couple of Alfas (both race cars), an Abarth 500SS and a Ferrari along the way

But also have a couple of X1/9s, 3 (original) Pandas, a Fiat 500 (2007), 124 Sport Coupe CC, 124 Spyder, a pair of 125 Samantha Vignales amongst the Fiats

And although having never owned a Coupe (my brother owned a 16vt from new for a while), I have broken and scrapped 4! But I also broke and scrapped the only integrale in my possession

I've been a fan of Italian cars for a while...

1997 Fiat Brava 1.4 SX
1997 Fiat Bravo 1.8 HLX
1999 Fiat Brava 1.9 TD
1996 Fiat Coupe 2.0 20V NA
2001 Fiat Bravo 1.2 SX (Heavily modified)
2006 Fiat Stilo 1.4 Active Sport (3 door)
2007 Alfa Romeo 147 1.6 Collezione LE

And that accounts for most of my driving options. There are a couple of non-Fiat Group cars that would otherwise feature, but they didn't last long in ownership. Italian is best smile

Two coupes - 16v and 20vt - and a number of pandas, puntos, 127s, unos, and tipos that daughter or girlfriend drove. And one fiat panda-based kit, and one kit that's ended up with a 20vt engine...

Before I bought the Coupe I was offered a Stilo. 2005 1.4 5 door in Metallic Black 49k FSH £1850. Sadly whilst I was dithering it was sold for the full asking price with 2 other people also after it!!

I imagine the 2.4 model is rather quick smile

Well funny you should say that B3nny, countrycruising has built a 2.4 na fiat coupe that I admit goes very well...
Quick enough without all the fuss of a turbo and ancillaries.

I think we have come up with a reason why the Coupe should have stayed in production post 2000!!

A 2.4 N/A engine.

I had a Tipo and a Punto but I can't say I've ever missed them. Whereas I still have a soft spot for my previous Alfasud & 33. Not too long ago I drove a Stilo as a loan car whilst my son's Alfa 147 was having work done. It was quite astonishing how two Italian cars from the same family, both 1.6 hatchbacks, could be so different. Everything that the Alfa was good at - engine, looks, interior, steering & handling - well everything really - the Stilo was utterly horrid in all those departments. So probably if it wasn't for the Coupe, I'd have stuck to Alfas. But I must admit a sneaky admiration for the Multipla - so ugly it's quite sweet.

I had 4 Alfa 145s and 146s in 1.6 Boxer, 1.7 Quad Cam 16v Boxer, and 1.6 TwinSpark guises.

I loved the shape and the character of them all but the Boxers were slow and the Twinsparks were understeery.
The seating position was proper Alfa (i.e. totally awful), and the gear ratios on the Boxers were wrong (too low for relaxed cruising).

The 156 is too far the other way - comfortable, quiet, reliable, economical, brilliant handling - but somehow lacking the character/ excitement of the 145s and 146s.

The Coupe is a better car than all of them, but the 20v na was possibly the most involving to drive.

This is my car history since passing my test aged 18 in 2008 in order.

Fiat punto mk2 16v 6spd (first car) broom yellow
Fiat coupe 20v na vis speed red
Fiat coupe 16vt speed red
Fiat seicento 1.1 black
Fiat seicento (1.2 16v conversion) black
Fiat bravo 155 hgt vis black (rip) frown
Fiat cinquecento (1.2 16v conversion) silver
Fiat coupe 20vt portofino blue (my baby)

So I've never owned anything else, probably the very reason I've never got any money in my bank account lol! Fiats....gota love em!

Also in the family:
Dads fiat coupe 2.4 20vt, the very reason I fell in love with coops in the first place, either that or I was dropped on my head as a child laugh

And a beautiful fiat coupe 20v na (none vis) soon to undergo major work.

However, the latest edition to our family, saved from the scrappys and hopefully to be road worthy soon, is an Alfa 145 2.0l cloverleaf...hmmm not made my mind up on this one yet, however intrigued and excited to drive it smile

Ps. Happy newyear everybody! Best wishes for 2013.

Angelo.

It all started off with my brother's Starda 1.5, I borrowed it and went for my first date. My 1st car was Uno 45, followed by Coupe 16vt, Coupe 20vt, Abarth 500, Bravo 1.4T.

Coupe from new and after numerous French (always in the garage with huge repair bills!(Peugeot 205 1.6 Gti and Renault 21 Turbo especially) and German cars (never in the garage but huge running costs! (S6 Avant-16.5mpg!!!) have settled into total Italian 'Heaven':
Alfa 916 2.0 TS Spider and 159 Ti 1.9JTDm Sportwagon (everyday wheels)- (often in the garage but always a pleasure!)

Since buying my first Fiat, a 1969 125 in 1971 (before a lot of you were born), I have owned nothing else, in order:-
1973 132S
1980 131 Supermirafiori
1988 Croma
1988 Bertone X1/9
1996 16vt Coupe (current vehicle)
2008 Grande Punto (the family hack)

My elder daughter currently owns a 1967 850 Coupe (her first car), a Series 2 850 Spider and a 2008 500. Her husband is restoring a 900T van.

Glad some of you like the Multipla as a mate has just restored an original 600 Multipla from the late 1950s. Even then it was advertised as a multi purpose vehicle, long before our northern neighbours from the land of the rising sun started to use this phrase in their advertising.

I learnt to drive in my Mums green Cinq I even remember the reg! That got replaced for another one, at the same time as I got my own 1997 Cinq Sporting (Broomy! laugh ) which is gathering dust in the garage. frown

Between my parents, my sister and myself, we covered well over 500k miles in Cinq's/Sei's in the late 90's/early 00's shocked

The tin worm and scrapage scheme was the downfall of my old X19, but at least she was replaced with another Fiat - what is now my Mums 500.

I was in charge of recommending a car for an ex gf a few years ago... by the end of the weekend, she was driving a MK2 Punto! laugh

So... yes, you could say I like other Fiat cars laugh ... I would also love any of the following Strada 130TC, Uno Turbo, 124 Spider, Fiat Dino, Mk 1 Bravo HGT, Stilo Abarth (3 dr), Panda 4x4 - original and new...

As for the other Fiat "Group" cars... Where do I start... love
