Having enquired about a vr6 golf the other day and organised to view on Friday I got a text from the guy saying he went to get a puncture looked at and then the car wouldn't start, he suspects the immobilser is stuck on so to speak and has offered me the car dirt dirt cheap (I could make the money back on alloys and interior)

I'm not sure of the 'legality' of me asking on a forum and if no one is allowed to tell me how then fair enough.....but does anyone know how to do this or even test if it is the offending article...........and dare I say by pass the issue......

Many thanks

Adsm

I used to own a VR6 which had excatly the same issue. It would start 95% of teh time and the odd occassion you had to try several times.

This was going back wuite a few years and it was the type you had to insert a small key like part into a slot?!!? and once removed you get a while to start the car as usual, sometimes blowing on teh key helped!?!?

also had a similar issue with a calibra turbo. immobiliser's have improved now and i haven't heard any issues with modern cars for a while.
