Don't see why - got three grandparents that made it past a hundred, and one that only made 85 when he died of Silicosis from working in the mines... I reckon I've another fifty or sixty years in me!

Drove a friend's 20VT when I was 19. Could finally afford a 20VT+ 10 years later. That was four years ago. Still going strong.

My mate had one, the one I ended up buying first time round. He blew it up when he changed into 2nd at 80mph and threw the conrod outta the side of the block. I got a shot of his and managed 150mph shocked on my first go. Lol.

No, it's when you're older and things like an own house, wife, kids, job hunting every so often... come into play that you no longer can afford one!

First one, new 20vt+, at 21
Second one, 20vt+, 1/4th of the price of the new one, at 32, bought as a present to myself for building my own house and getting the first baby smile

It took me 10 years to save up (including some money to spend on it). It wasn't the Coupe that ruined me when I was young though, it was the lousy Punto HGT that they probably started building on the evening of 1 June in 2000 and finished it when coming back monday the 5th after drinking loads of Italian liquor punch (Amaretto + Limoncello + Sambuca + Muscato d'Asti + Centerba + Frangelico + Grappa + Martini + Marsala + Mellone) for their Festa della Repubblica.

Rubbish! You and Proccy should hang your heads in shame, it knocks a good 15 years off you = midlife for those that insist on that label tongue

Ok 12 then tim42.

QED.

PS I understand though Proccy you haven't exactly been having a purple patch recently.

Yes, seems strange knowing they used to be around £23,000 from new and now only 10 - 15 years later, you can pick one up for less than a grand shocked

Same with most things I suppose though.

I remember finding an advert in the eighties - when ferraris were rusty italian sports cars - for a Dino 246 for 700 quid...

Started late ..

53 when I bought the first one - lovely Sprinty 20VT
58 when I changed it for a v. low mileage Red 20VT

No late life crisis or anything else - Had a Clio Sport 172 before the Coupe and the Coupe was the only thing that stood out as a perfect replacement.

As much fun to drive and a much better tourer when driving in France!

No idea what I would replace it with now, if I needed to.

Number one at 33 to replace my Punto daily driver, as a reward for fatherhood and actually having to make an effort from this point on to keep the family fed and watered. The nipper fits in the back just great and has a far better view of the sky than before. tongue

Well i drove and bought my coupe when I was 26 and 13 years later I still have him. Although I have replaced most if not all of the original.
I did also buy a half share of 4 other coupe's at the same time, but I never owned any of them longer than it took to bring them over from Germany, register them and sell them on, a process which enabled me to pay for half of the coupe that I kept smile.
