driving with faulty master cylinder has killed my standard valeo clutch , its done 26,000 miles i'm gutted, thinking of getting a paddle clutch ,would this be ok on my standard coupe ,want a stage one flea map this year so any advice would be great.

I would just stick with standard clutch unless you are planning on heavy modding in the future. the paddle clutch can be a pain in normal stop start driving.

hi sorry to butt in! ive just put a gtec in the coop and the clutch has started to slip under boost! do u reckon if i replace it with the valeo unit would take the extra horses?

A standard clutch will be fine up to about 300bhp / 275 lb-ft

Don't fit a paddle clutch unless you're well over 400bhp - you'll hate it

Thanks for the info monty and nigel,getting a new standard clutch ,i was just scared the last one only did 26,000 ,putting it down to driving with a faulty master cylinder, wont be going more than 270 bhp so should be safe.

The valeo unit IS the standard clutch on a 20vt (and 16vt)

It'll be fine for the power just a gtec chip increases, unless you're aiming to go over 300bhp as Nigel says?

Hi there my 20VT has mods. My standard (valeo) clutch is my second set and works fine. Over 30K miles on it now. Have even used my car on occasional track days.
