Few years ago a friend recommanded me to change the camshaft to Lancia Thema NA one, didn't noticed any difference, question is... it should be noticeable?
And generally what is the Best camshafts i can buy for the 16VT? If it matters, car running now with GT2876R and changing that soon to something from the GTX series

Depends what your building, different cams to suit different power levels and rpm ranges.

What he said, I have the similar if still smaller C&B road Min - gain is circa 10% over 5500rpm, but I lost 10% between 3000-5000rpm rpm from memory. was a few years ago now. I actually wasn't that pleased after the expense so - not great bang for buck, Whats the rest of your spec? and target BHP

Spesso Headgasket. Thama NA cams. Bosch fuel pump. 630cc injectors NGK platinum spark plugs FMIC + SIP Garett GT2876R external gate 3 inch exhaust from down pipe(include) untill the muffler Cat removed Chip
Target for now is to reach 400bhp (i know the other mods i have to do for that) any idea what will be the best cams for that?

It's difficult to say, anyone could tell you to go and buy xyz' cams but there are different ways to acheive the hp you want.It depends on where you want your powerband to be and where you place the powerband with accompanying mods. None of the C+B's are very aggressive, judgeing by the figures they quote. What annoys me about cam manufactures is how there is no standardization accross the industry, it's like comparing apples and elephants.

The problem with comparing cams is the difference that can't be seen from the numbers, even if they were standardised. Two identicle durations and lifts can be different, the ramps can vary infinitely.

Thats why I think they should publish the maps, as a pdf from the various websites. They have nothing to loose, even in the unlikely event someone copies it. How easy that would make our lives.

Does some of the big power coupes still driving with the original cams? The Thema NA isn't enough for big power?

This is a hard one to answer, 1NRO and Tricky know more about this than I do You can force an OE head to big numbers but would a ported one, make more power at less boost - yes, it is somewhat the same with cams, could you force a N/A cam to certain level, perhaps, but is there a better option - certainly I would say. It's about matching it to a spec and power band. If you put "big" cams in an otherwise OE engine (N/A size) - like I did, and mine are resonably small, you could be taking a backwards step in driveablity. Here is mine from memory, this was a long time ago about 4-5years so I can't recall 100%, before and after cams, same spec turbo turbine but bigger compressor (slightly) and cams, and on a prograle custom chip at this stage. it made more power but was worse to drive and at alot of boost - see the midrange is down though I picked up 20bhp peak power Basically that package was a bad mix. Your turbo is not a really flowing turbo on the turbine side, so your not planning huge revs, like you would if you had a GT3582R, I would consider a GT28R a mid range turbo. That i believe was my problem, cams on a mid range range turbo and head, the cams held the turbo back at low RPM, the turbo held the cams back at high RPM - bad mix

I doubt any big power cars run with fiat cams of any type.

Will see in april..:) PS: Depends about what you mean "big power" ...I promise over 400bhp(401 is over 400 too:D)..if this is small power for your fiat...I'll bow to you

I would suggest if you stick with the Thema NA inlet cam that you invest in a pair of adjustable cam pulleys and spend some money on a good dyno with a good engineer - the timing of the NA cam is not best suited to the turbo engine and inprovements can be made by advancing the inlet cam timing by up to 11 degrees. I would also put the stock exhaust cam back in if you still have it. It will give better performance than the Thema NA exhaust cam which really has too much endurance for a mild turbo engine. If you decide to keep the NA exhaust cam, advancing the timing 3 degrees to reduce exhaust valve lift at TDC might help improve things.

Hi, I'm pleased to read some advices about cam tuning as, I have already put this kind of cam in my motor. But I prefered to put the stock inlet fiat turbo cam on the exhaust and the Tipo 16V on the inlet. It gives better response at low RPM. The timing have to be changed to get the max of this setup, and we're still trying to find the best settings. I think I will have to trace the camshafts curves to make the right choice

The timing have to be changed to get the max of this setup, and we're still trying to find the best settings. Using the cams you have chosen, if you are able to set up by using lift at TDC, then 1.6mm inlet lift and 0.5mm exhaust lift should give good results. This is with clearances shimmed to 0.3mm inlet and 0.4mm exhaust.
