Hi all,

Having to sell my coupe as the fuel, insurance and maintenance costs have really started to take their toll (on my bank balance) and i just cant justify the costs anymore...:(

I adore these cars having owned three and will miss it like mad when it goes (you get really attached to these cars, think it's all the daft quirks, wing mirror spiders, rain falling on your arm when it's been raining and window open etc :)) but the costs are just getting silly and she's only getting older.

I will hopefully be returning to another one in the future, most probably a plus or LE as my final one to run as a weekend car but for the time being she will be gone!

I will still stick around on the forum and i'm still keeping it italian (going for a punto evo)

sad times....but my bank balance will be much healthier smile

I'll be back smile

Always sad to hear this type of post. Good luck for the future.

Wont buying a Punto Evo put a rather large dent in your bank balance anyway though?

If you are really thinking of your bank balance, as above, is that the right car, if ist all about saving, there are cheaper, more sensible, more reliable cars to choose from!!

I sold my 20VT in January for exactly the same reasons & really regretted it - Are you actually in financial difficulty already? - or like me just selling cause you 'assume' you will not be able to afford the running/maintenance costs?.

I have actually now brought mine back! wink laugh

it's not a sellers market!, don't sell unless you really have to. If you do truly 'Adore these cars' - Why don't you get a cheap, reliable run-around for daily use & keep the Coupe for weekends/fun?

You can get it on a limited mileage (3-5K) classic policy very cheaply - thats what I've done, & have got a 2002 Primera for daily use.

I sold mine, got a Punto and regretted it ever since. I still do though I have another Coupe. And not just because the Punto proved to be as expensive to maintain.

I'm getting a punto evo on finance, no deposit, £160 a month, 3 years warranty and 1 years road tax, wont need mot'ing either, 50 mpg, it's a no brainer for me as i'm constantly overdrawn at the end of the month with the coupe and dreading the winter, frozen locks etc, i will miss it but time to move on. I will probably get another when my bank balance is much healthier, i want to get a nice fat exhaust on mine (not too loud), hid's, maybe chip it etc but just cant afford it so she's gotta go frown

Tommy, you do know that, as a club member, you can buy your Punto Evo through the Fiat affinity scheme.

Details are in the members' area if you have not already ordered it. Check that the prices are up to date with the contacts shown.

It's the same new car purchase deal that Fiat employees get.
