Just make sure you stay away from gate posts as I don't think the OMP brace would be quite as tough

Very worthwhile mod though, and a lot cheaper than my stainless brace

Did you fit an upper or lower brace?

Im pretty sure if its the OMP Brace then its the upper one... That being the case its the cheapest and most noticable mod you can do to your car. Makes such a difference laugh

Doh! - must read more closely

Ah well - OMP do a lower brace as well, which will tighten things up even further - worth a look, especially at the price they are charging

This is interesting as I've had an Omp strutbrace fitted for a good while and I didn't really notice much difference, BUT i do have standard shocks and cheap springs . . . Lets see what happens when I fit my Eibachs and Bilsteins tongue

Back into retirement, for now at least . . . Broomy will come out to play next year smile

OMP 156 twin spark lower front brace bolts straight on. It made a HUGE difference to the steering feel and balance. Really nice mod, checks geometry in check at the wishbone mount.

I removed my lower brace, it's so impractical for an everyday road car!
You can no longer drive over the speed humps that the front wheels straddle, parking with two wheels on a kerb is a no no as it will scrape.

The final straw for me was driving down an uneven country road with bad cambers off to each side, the lower brace caught on the road and pulled the wishbone mounting bolt out of the wishbone!

Great for a track car where every bit of chassis rigidity is a bonus, on a daily driver, no thanks, way too much hastle and constantly thinking "will I make it over that".

I had a few scrapes with mine when I'd slammed it down too low with the FK coilovers, but I put it up a bit and it's OK now, still have to be careful over humps but I'm not living out in the sticks.

My car is at std ride height and the bar does not hit speed bumps but if your car is lower'd you have to stradle speed bumps etc!

I have Eibach (-30mm). I don't want to sit in the car and play the guessing game every time I see a speed bump tongue

I've had a lower brace for years AND I run Eibachs

I agree that it will scrape if you try to straddle a "pillow" style speed bump, but I simply slow down a bit more and put two wheels on the bump and two wheels off

As for parking on kerbs, I've only scuffed it once and that was on a very high kerb - its not usually a problem

I've never scraped the brace on normal roads, although it does rub the grass down the middle of heavily-cambered single-track country lanes

So - you can run a lower brace on a lowered daily driver, but you do have to adapt your driving very slightly

Any pic of your car with the brace in place?
I would like to see the ground clearance.

Fitting the brace also depends on how low your downpipe is. I would be able to raise mine around 5mm (by removing washers). You may be able to get away with a little more than me.
