Hi all
I have decided to keep my Coupe LE and want to make it sound a bit more "throaty". It currently has a super sprint exhaust fitted. Any ideas on where I can take it to make it sound a little more sporty than it already does!
Cheers guys

I have a K & N Induction Cone and fittings available. All you'd need is a 45 degree, 76mm hose to fit.

MABR - I will have a chat with a mechanic mate of mine and see if he has what you suggest to fit the K&N and get back to you. Thanks

Cheers Joel - will have a word with my mate tonight to see if he can assist with fitting etc. You don't need a mechanic mate to help fit this. I bet even Truffle could do it.

Drill holes in the airbox. What about the performance when you drill holes? Is this a good modification?

Ill take all your words for it guys...I am a 'numpty' at mechanics, but may give it a go - drilling holes sounds like the best solution. Cheers

/\ not much difference, you may notice some small gains, definitely no adverse effects though Actually, having read a zillion threads on this over the years, I thought the conclusion was that you do lose a bit of low down torque, but gain a bit of top end power. Most people who drill the box eventually revert to standard. No reason not to do it though

i think its important to know the context when these guys revert back to stock airbox. if they've gone for a larger turbo where they've felt the lack of low-end torque, then yes, reverting back to the stock airbox makes a lot of sense.
but with a stock turbo the drilled airbox is great. with a stock car, the engine runs out of breath at around 5500rpms. u get a whole 1000 rpms more of decent pulling power with intake and exhaust mods. yes, off-boost feels like a dog - ur not gonna be able to run away from that with any exhaust/intake mods - but since boost comes in so early on the stock turbo no one really cares.

Nothing chavvy about making your car louder IMO, as long as the quality of the soundtrack is not reduced. I love my cars loud, because they put more of a smile on my face that way If a boy racer wants to try and copy that with a bean can on a 1 ltr car then that's not going to change anything.

Plenty of old / original members did the air box thing, I think they just got tired of the noise and/or went on to do more substantial modifications. The small loss of low down grunt was not really the issue.
