So then, the clutch has gone on the 20vt. Well, it's slipping on boost anyway. I've heard certain things about an Alfa GTA clutch being compatible/better - whats the craic?

Going by Shop4parts, the GTA clutches are slightly cheaper, do they fit straight on? I've a 20vt with the 5-speed box.

Cheers fellas

It's a direct replacement and it does perform better than the standard(can cope with more torque). If you are tuned, I believe it can cope with up to about 300-320lb/ft torque with a Walkers cover plate.

I didn't know it was cheaper, I thought it was the same price.

Cheers,

Mark

It will be from a 147 or 156 GTA. Is its just the standard GTA clutch or does it come with the Walkers upgraded cover plate?

It's not better than the std one, can't handle the same torque. Go for std, or better like Helix or Barbz new one.

Trust me I've tried.

As above, its not really any better than a standard clutch unless paired with a walkers cover plate which make it quite a bit more expensive. If your going to go that route, you may as well get a Helix and be done with it.

I had a helix, but it was too hard for me so I got Barbz's new clutch.

Awesome bit of kit and can handle the same power as the helix, but feels like a standard clutch.

Quite a lot cheaper too!

I have GTA clutch. I have tested it on track with 1.5 bar of boost , circa 450 Nm, and no problems. I have used it on RR with 1.7 bar of boost, circa 480 Nm, and no problems. One thing I don't do (and I wouldn't do with any clutch) is heavy launches on 1st gear and high boost on 2nd gear. This will kill your drive train. Maybe this is why I still have a good and strong clutch. I treat my car far too nicely (despite having 358 ponnys under the bonnet and they are just waiting to kill the tires smile ).
