Travelled the 2 1/2 hours to JBT today to pick up the Coupe after an oil change and replacement drive shaft fitting, plus MOT. The car passed the MOT without advisories. Brilliant. As soon as I drove it away it felt great - probably the effect of a few days of driving JBTs loan car purple Micra.

Two junctions up the M1 crawling on the inside lane and BANG! My rear view mirror was full of articulated Renault lorry as it continued to push my car along the road. This was in stop start traffic and the lorry driver was clearly pre occupied with texting or watching a movie on his IPad. He was certainly quick enough to get the Ipad out for photographing the damage.

He apologised and I suppose s**t happens! but the lorry bent the rear frame (behind the bumper) meaning the boot won't close, though hardly any exterior damage. I will not allow my car to be an insurance write off (which it would be) and so it is now back at JBTs awaiting repair, and I will be asking the other party for a cheque, if he pays up. What a crap day.

So, back up the M1 in the Micra...

Very lucky to be alive!

Hope you reported it to the police! especially if you thing he was texting or watching a film!

Had this happen to me back in the 90's! still get a bit spooked by it now!

Hope the cars not too bad and if you are getting a cheque make sure you get enough to cover a full respray on top of the repairs

Absolutely right when people say at least I'm not in hospital. Do worry about the next person he hits.

Speaking of which, the lorry driver has his phone switched off and hasn't replied to my message yet. Why am I not surprised. Not sure of the final repair bill, but a body shop will be reshaping the rear metal work for £150, then it's down to what JBT needs to do.

Incredibly I now have my car back and it looks as it did before the accident.

Yesterday morning I received a call from JBT to say it was all done, despite it being the bank holiday! There aren't many people who would do that. So in the space of 3 days my car's been taken apart, repaired, and put back together, and all over a bank holiday weekend. Well chuffed.

Not only that but John refused to accept any payment for his time. What a gent. Cheers John.

(and in case anyone wonders why I'm posting at 4am - I work shifts!)
