Which injectors should I get for the GT2871R turbo? At this stage the engine is non-forged but I will be going forged next year so what are my injectors options with potential for further tuning up to 450bhp next year?

Also, which fpr should I go for?

440's are ok for that but there reaching there limits from what I was told so a slightly bigger injector would be better ive gone OTT on mine at 880cc but that's because there's future moods in the pipe line which I wanted to be ready for.

As for cracking ring lands how was the boost controlled? Was it progressive or all in once spooling up because that maybe why they cracked

Nigel, do you remember what part number are they or should I simply look for Bosch big green?

Oops - "green giant", not "big green"

IIRC, the part number is 0280155968 - beware of cheap fakes - buy only from a reputable source

The Bosch Green Giants have been copied so many times now, be very careful, the replicas can cause so many problems from incorrect spray pattern, uneven flow far below 440cc, and very poor idle. On occasions the car won't run at all!

If you are running the GT2871R on a standard engine then this is fine if the set-up and tuning is correct. I have had engines lasting 3-4 years without issue, all driven hard. I tune/set-up these in a very specific way, it makes all the difference. Breaking four ringlands is certainly no accident, that would be caused by a fundamental issue with the set-up/tuning. BTW I should note I didn't tune Gillan's engine!

my ringlands went because I forced my tuner to up the torque a lot it made 360bhp on a dyno dynamics and 400ft torque which isn't bad I thought the rods would of bent first.
its completely irrelevant who tunes it if the owner of the vehicle has told them to push it. I was warned, my tuner has tuned many coupes and has done a lot on here, I was warned not go so high. ive seen coupes with 250bhp crack a ringland.
And most of us know what power it would of made on a dastek.

I was also advised on a slightly bigger turbo to run less boost.

Yes I should have noted above Gillan, that the reason I have stated that I did not tune your car was to save any confusion regarding who had tuned it as it was not mentioned (indeed I assumed you had tried tuning it yourself given our previous correspondence asking for help). Anyway, what prompted the clarification is due to a chap calling me yesterday asking about taking his standard engine to 380-400bhp. He went on to ask why your engine had broken four ringlands, to which I had no idea what Coupe he was talking about. To this date, I have yet to have a single engine fail while tuning. He had assumed, like many, that I had tuned it, therefore I wanted to make it clear that I was not involved with your car.

The engine in question was driven very hard. And I'm
Sure if people speak up on here there is a lot more that have broken ring lands even ones that have been tuned by your self. We all know we can get 2 identical engines one will seem happy at 400bhp and the other wil die at 300. No body asked who tuned my engine. I just thought it was rather irrelevant to mention. It even states on the tuning guide on this very forum that after 320bhp it's advisable to go uprated internals .

I'll not say anymore, I have only looked to clarify as above.

What I would say is that the tuning guide is very much out of date, it was not written by me, but I will look to update accordingly.

A good map goes a long way with a tune car specially when it comes to safety of the engine
My set up is over 4 years old mapped by flea @ 1.3 bar then up it to 1.5 bar car lasted over 2 years before it spun a big end and the engine had done 189000 and my friend who had it drove it like its been stolen reg m400 off now it's in mine done 2 years @ 1.5 bar and still going strong
We all know it will come a time when your engine will let go even if you are forged it happens all you can do is embraced the moment intil then enjoy it

So who did you get to tune yours then Gillan? Did it go on the dyno if so is there any graphs so we can see when it went ie hitting boost hard or what AFR it was etc etc

All of which is good info for the forum and others looking to upgrade
