The Mrs informed me that you can get a Range Rover Evoque in 2 wheel drive.

That's right. RANGE ROVER in 2 wheel drive.

Just imagine the shame when you are stuck in the mud at the local car boot sale....

The world has gone mad.

Having scrabbled around in the dirt for many many hours under our Freelander changing the clutch slave a bit less gubbins under there would have been welcome.

You're right though - it is what the world is coming to - form no longer has to follow function.

I agree that 2 wheel drive is better for economy but you simply don't buy a Range Rover unless you accept that it is an all terrain vehicle.

If you want 2 wheel drive, there are hundreds of makes to choose from.

Did you post from your phone?

Some of them hold the address twice then post to both. Nismo has a similar problem too from time to time you may notice.

Are you talking about Evoque?

Do you know that in Italy (fashion-victim nation) is one of the best-sellers cars? Same numbers of the quite more economic Juke!

These are the best selling cars from January to March of this year

39 RENAULT TWINGO 2.873
40 OPEL ASTRA 2.789
41 NISSAN JUKE 2.760
-----------------------------------
42 LAND ROVER EVOQUE 2.757
-----------------------------------
43 BMW SERIE 3 2.674
44 MERCEDES CLASSE C 2.666
45 TOYOTA AURIS 2.618

Who wants a 4wd SUV? laugh

Indeed Gimmo.

I can't stand the Juke either.... although it may be heresy for me to say this, considering Master Chris Bangle likes them.

I am not a fan of form over function, and a car which screams off road capability should never be 2 wheel drive IMO, regardless of how cool they look.

I don't mind so much about "tall roaders" like the Qashqai and the Juke being 2WD since they never had a lineage of being off roaders. But Land Rover????? Seriously?

That's like having a front wheel drive Ferrari with a 2 litre engine....

Oh, wait... rolleyes

What about a rear wheel drive X1 then?
Should be handy in the snow and ice! rolleyes

Perversely, I am thinking about getting a Xdrive X1 as I had a test drive in one a couple of weeks ago and it totally countered my negative expectations.
181 bhp, 4 wheel drive, modest size, 50mpg, 8 speed auto - apart from Banglesque styling, what's not too like? laugh
