After many years of wanting a coupe, finally had the pleasure and found a peach which took me round Europe and back and still going strong.

But think its time to sell as it just doesn't get used and I cant justify paying £137 a month insurance for 2 hours of driving on a weekend. Hopefully can go to someone who will use and enjoy it more than me.

Had lots of help on this site so thank you to the people out there in forum land.

would your insurance be more affordable if you did driving courses, advanced driving or something.

Or get Sarah Fisher (now at Glynwood) to quote you for a limited mileage classic policy.

Wow, living in the city does make it more expensive, it's 77 a month for me, 23y/o 3 years no claims. Does a non turbo make much difference?

You guys pay a lot!

My Ink Black 20VT6 costs me £270 per year via City Insurance in Salisbury. OK, I'm 54, but I only have 3 years no claims (due to many years driving company cars and no insurance of my own), but it's fully comp with 12,000 mile limit and a high (£500 excess), oh and Teignmouth is only a small town.

My Yellow Plus costs about the same on a classic agreed value policy via Glynwood, but only 3,000 miles. This is because you can't use your no claims for more than one policy and you don't earn any no claims on classic policy.

That's two 20VT Coupes insured for just over £500 per year. I'm OK with that. smile

27 years old, Fully comp - Gbp 2k North East London/Essex 1998. Ah how I fondly and painfully remember those days.

Remember the AA quoting Gbp 3k.

I thought £1400 a year 3rd party f+t was bad for an F reg xr4x4 2.9 litre version at 20 years old in 1992, but always happily paid also spending a £1000 on a stereo with cd multiple changer and some speakers when the alpine AI net first came out! Didn't bat an eyelid back then but also didn't have any responsibilities!
Age really does help with costs sometimes!

Just £220 for me as part of an Admiral multi-car policy! Had I insured it separately it would have been just £180, but I have tried to help my lad out with his first car insurance which was £700 for 1.2 VW Polo!!!!
Ok I'm now 48 and thankfully have lots of NCB, but my concern about how much the 20VT was going to be to insure proved unfounded. Well at least so far....

Yes the Sierra Xr4X4 - there was a guy down my road with a white one in 1989. I had a Golf GTI 8v Mark 2 in 1990 - could only get insured 3rd party at 19 yo. The boys in those days were into Fiesta XR2is, Peugeot 205 Gti's 1.6 and 1.9, and the plastic Renault 5 turbos.

Agreed, get it on a classic policy. Mine has been on a classic for three years.

I am 29, with 0 no claims(due to company cars) and consistantly around £330ish a year living in outskirt of Birminghams(still in city as such)

^^ Wow, that's cheap. Mine is about the same but TPFT only and limited to 3K miles, but with only 1 year no claims on that policy.

Adrian flux and glynwood seem to be the cheapest for me at the moment, they're worth a call if you want try to reduce your insurance premium.

<ahem> £37/month, 5,000 miles, £10k value </ahem>

You are all too young. Or something.

(To be honest, I thought that was expensive. The kit, with three times the power to weight ratio, costs half that. Both include recovery. Talk to Sarah at Glynwood.)

£178 fully comp (TPFT was more expensive!)4000m pa,10yrs NCD. One of the bonuses of getting older.

First car was an MGB GT paid £800+ TPFT on that in 1993.

well that was depressing reading all the quotes/prices you guys pay for insurance smile

ive tried a few things, policy at the min is - fully comp, 2000 miles a year, added my brother on (dropped £150), social only, that I drive a company vehicle = £137 frown

did a new quote last week as insurance up in a month, still nearly £100 per month! a lot of pennies

hopefully going to get to tatton park last show in the coupe

Is yours the purple coupe and are they aware of the colour change if that is the case?

Seems a tad expensive, even for a city.

yeah its down on log book as mauve/purple has been for 2 years according to previous owner.

its where I live and because coupe group 19, my mate did quote for him (same age and ncd) living in Cheshire came back at £673 a year where mine is £1686 a year.

done a quote for an S3 group 17, closes power/performance to 20v turbo comes back at £87 per month, £50 month cheaper

Talk to Sarah at Glynwood Insurance . Unless you really want to get rid of the coupe I expect she will be able to do better on the limited mileage policy they offer to club members.

You will have to join the club to take it up. (£15)

That must be a normal policy, go for a specific classic limited miles policy.

For a normal policy with elephant, swift etc for me it is well over 1k.
Im with footman james or sarah at glynwood im sure could assist.

I've used Livingstones Warman in the past on a Cherished car policy ... much cheaper than a normal policy.

I remember being quoted over £2k a year on my first Coupe.... then I started researching classic / cherished car policies. Limiting the mileage is a good way to reduce the premium.

I just insured a Maserati 3200 (see 'Temporary runabout' in Other Cars forum). Amazingly, it's only costing £200 a year from Direct Line! That's half the price of the Fiat! I have no idea how that can be, but for once I'm winning:D.

I live in belgium and pay per year 80 euros roadtax and around 550 euros insurance. This is as second car full drive to work and hobby. With no benifits or anything. Just insured for when i hit a other persons car. If i drive the car into a tree due to a animal crossing or something i get nothing.
