I should've known from the start that letting Mr. Anal (Hi John) have free reign over my car and point out all it's little issues would be painful. What I didn't expect was it to be quite so painful!
When someone tots up a list and says "just over £2k to sort it all out" you think WTF?!?!?! But it's coupe ownership so hey, ces't la vie.
He's on with the most (de) pressing jobs now and I need to have a word with her indoors when I get home about some of the others. Needless to say if they don't all get done this time round "I'll be back" as I always seem to be emptying my wallet in my cars direction!

A big thank you to John(who was still in his garage playing with Darlo Nick's car at 20.30 hrs bank holiday Monday) and, as per, has been professional and very thorough in his search for issues and weak points. Hopefully I can talk wifey round into the nice 4 figure sum to sort most of out.

As a foot note thank you to who ever painted the gold items on the green machine, they are - errrr - very un subtle! laugh

Sorry Ben but you had the same list as last year and as you haven't addressed these rather alarming issues the list is still present only more severe laugh

Im working on yours now whilst I wait for Darlo to pick his coupe up.
There's that much oil,and cv grease everywhere that its difficult to get to any of the fixings but it'll never rust.

Ah see, there is a plus side to it spewing shite out everywhere!!!
What worries me is that it has a 12 month ticket!!!

I know it's my fault... I might add a few more to the list tomorrow wink

A few little bits that added to alot but it's worth it - I'm looking forward to having a car that I can have some faith in again and hopefully a trouble free few months!

Never?????
How much did you bribe the tester to pass that.
I've never seen brake lines as bad that haven't failed.

Ouch! At least it is getting sorted properly. Would like to get mine inspected by one of the specialists just to point out things I may have missed.

What does the bulk of the work consist of on your car?

Well.....

CV boots.
Brake lines
A tre
A few little areas where oil is escaping
Rear springs
Rear compensator valve is sticking
Bonnet release
A rear wheel bearing
I also wanted an uprated clutch....

That list isn't exhaustive......

I'll feel better when he's finished, then pain when I collect, then better again on the way home and then pain again if the wife sees the invoice....

It's never a good idea to let John near your car when he's got his screw driver in one hand and the 'book of sorrow' in the other! laugh

My car needed a lot more work than I thought it did. But as I was stood under the car with John while he did his checks I couldn't argue with any of the rusty or wobbly bits he found! I tried a couple of times to cut the list down and put some jobs off for 6 months, but it was impossible!

My CHOD had pretty much disintegrated too and I was lucky to make it down. So anyone that's delaying getting theirs checked/replaced, do it now! wink

I know, it's my 4th visit and my second time in the book....

How'd you enjoy the M1? Those 50 mph zones are a right ball ache aren't they!

Yea, those roadworks are soul destroying! And those variable speed limit gantries confuse me, I'm still not sure if they are set to catch you over 70mph when they aren't displaying a limit?
Plus the A1 was closed on my way home, so had to take a slight detour through Doncaster!

The work on your car was fully underway when I got there at 19:30 last night! Should be done in no-time at all the hours John is currently working! smile

They may still operate when not displaying a limit; the limit still exists. Though what they actually trigger at is unknown... I'd bet it's over eighty.

He was finishing off Nick but I added to the list again! He was doing yours bank holiday Monday at around 20.30 hrs as I arrived! He loves it really.

I've seen people go through the variable speed gantries at around 80 and not get flashed. I'm more of a 73 (ish) kinda guy. Not worth the points for a few mph.

I do mate,as much as I try to plan the year so I can finish at 5 it never works out that way.
That said I've only worked into the next day a handful of times this year so things are improving.

On a plus side yours is now done.
