My new Coupe has a replacement Sony head unit, which stays on when you turn the ignition off (you can turn the stereo off manually, but it is a flat battery waiting to happen). I assume it's been wired direct to the batter or a live feed, rather than via a relay / switched live. I can fit a relay no problem, but has anyone else had this issue?

Cheers

Prob the ISO adaptor wired incorrectly.

Sounds like you have the perm live connected where the switched live should be...

Yeah, thought so. Need to find some stereo pullers to get the s0d out.

That is the standard wiring for the coupe There is no switched live!

Best bet is to take a fused feed from the ciggy lighter, one of the first things I did on both my copues.

Blimey. I don't remember having to turn off the Clarion unit on my old Coupe..... probably losing my mind.

Yep, I will cut into the ciggy wire feed as you suggest. Fun with heat shrink and soldering iron !

My 16VT has a permanently live cigarette lighter socket.

Also, my original Clarion head unit is not ignition controlled so it requires to be turned off when parked. It is marvellous how one's brain can be trained to do this repetitive action when turning off the engine.

I have arranged for my stereos to stay on when the ignition is off as I like to listen to the radio (Test Match Special or Planet Rock) when parked up. To flatten the battery you'd have to leave it on for quite a long time. The only time I've flattened a battery is when the boot light stayed on.... rolleyes
