Has anybody else noticed the NGK (7's) Iridiums wearing quite fast..?
I thought they would last next to forever.

I've had mine in for a year or so (ca 15000km's) and especially the second plug has worn badly on the outer piece (not the thin Iridium pin), but the others were a bit rounded off too.

One could also wonder if this affects the performance much as long as the gap is correct..?

No platinum are harder. Iridiums are supposed to be a bit cooler by maybe a 1/2

ALL iridium AND platinum plugs seem to wear out on hot running turbo cars.

Its usually the iridium electrode that distorts or wears prematurely.

I recommend using normal BKUR7ET plugs on modified cars and changing them every 6k.

I used BKUR7ET until I got close to 400bhp and then I needed 8s - unfortunately, they don't do the four-electrode plugs in an 8, so I had to upgrade to the BKR8EIX iridium - these are supposed to last for ages, but I find they get tired after 15k - 20k

I've gone from the expensive and delicate iridiums and bkur8s to NGK BCR8ES as recommended by my mechanic.
He uses these in all his race-prepared engines and swears by them.

I change them at 10k and they only cost a couple of quid each.
They have been totally faultless and are cheap as chips.

This is how it should have come out of Torino!

Hi Per.

I've only been using them since i went over 400 so not really sure whether 7s or 8s would suit you best.

At least it wont cost much to try the two different temp plugs but probably 7s will be ok if you're not using high boost.

Ok thanks. It's mapped to ca 1.5bar max (ca 340hp) so it is quite a lot, I think I'll try those 8's and see!
