Weekly Sheffield/Rotherham Meet

Weekly Sheffield/Rotherham Meet - 19/02/2009 20:31

Hi All,

Met up with Tom (fiatcoupemad) earlier to try and get a free pizza and too late. Again.

Anyway, we had a chat about trying to sort a weekly get together in the Sheff/Roth area. Doesn't have to be any particular day, just a pub or eatery to have some snap and a few Cokes or whatever.

Seemed a good idea, especially as the weather is gradually getting better and the nights longer.

Anyone in the area fancy this?

theres a gravel car park in penistone and pubs n chippys near

Re: Weekly Sheffield/Rotherham Meet - 19/02/2009 21:13

Excellent! I suppose the venue will be decided when we see how many want to attend. Maybe somewhere in the countryside would be a pleasant setting, especially on a summer evening. Bit like like a soppy novel... Seriously, open to suggestions, if any attendees want to suggest a spot. Or we could move around each week, all good to me.

Tom, Martin, Bosco? Any ideas?

Re: Weekly Sheffield/Rotherham Meet - 30/11/2009 08:20

Apologies guys, having started this thread, it should be me I guess. Bust next Saturday and hopefully shall be down to Joe's possibly the following weekend, maybe, perhaps. It's a time of year when everyone's busy, would we be in agreement to get something organised for early in the New Year?

Sunday at Donnington seemd like real success having got to the pub, if anyone can make (fresh) suggestions as to a good venue in the general area, with a large car park and some good food for those who fancy it, it would be most welcome.
Posted By: X19_pilot

Re: Weekly Sheffield/Rotherham Meet - 30/11/2009 18:46

Sundays are a bit of a stumbling block for me Im afraid as I work 10 while 4. I would definately go out of my way for an evening or Saturday meet though, even if its just a pub meet after work on a week day, would be good to compare notes.

Plenty of pubs not far from me just on the outskirts of the Peak District with good sized car parks which might be suitable if its just for a couple of hours?

Its a shame that the car museum at Batley(?) has closed as that might have been a good venue.

I shall of course be at Le Mans next year if any of you guys are going?

Re: Weekly Sheffield/Rotherham Meet - 03/12/2009 22:39

im really up for this so if you fancy it there is a pub about a mile away from the bypass that leads from chesterfield to sheffield. the pub is at the chesterfield end its called the trading post and the car park is massive, so is the pub. if your interested leave a post and we can sort it out.

I'd be up for that niff. Any ideas suggestions for a time or date?

Proccy, I think its down the bypass and then take your first "roight"! laugh
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Weekly Sheffield/Rotherham Meet - 08/12/2009 08:23

Anything near the bypass is fine with me, it's only a blat away. I'm round a mate's for the boxing on Saturday night, bird's working Saturday 'while' 5, but she won't be fussed, Sunday as far as I know is good.

Does the Trading Post do food or at least snack-based products? And lights in the car-park should we agree on an evening?

OK, let's see how we are then, stick a name below where is best for yourselves (this is for this coming weekend, 12th and 13th of Dec) and we'll see where end up :

Saturday

Feeblebob (day or evening)

Sunday

Feeblebob (day or evening)

FYI, Saturday looks OK in Ches-vegas, cloudy but sunny bits, coldish but very light wind, so sounds OK.

'The weekend looks like staying dry, and bright or sunny but cold'. Big jackets out then.

Ah, knew there was something... Heads all over the place at the moment. OK, rethink. Definitely not wanting to step on porkypauls toes here, so scrap this Sunday, register interest for this Saturday or next weekend (and then wait for me to realise I've something on then, too...)

Chesterfield no probs, but don't know the area. I'm sure someone at work will know it though.

Re: Weekly Sheffield/Rotherham Meet - 14/01/2010 09:13

Ok, how would everyone be for Saturday 23rd lunchtime/early afternoon? We can agree a location nearer the time but looking to put a date forward. Hopefully the snow will have effed off by then...

Seems sensible to arrange for lunchtimeish anyway at this time of year, with the cold dark nights etc.

I'm good for anywhere round Rotherham/Sheffield/Chesterfield area, and I haven't lived down here for all that long so I'm happy to be guided as to a good venue.

As ana side, I'm good for pretty much any weekend after the weekend of the 23rd/24th, but let's see if we can get a date nailed on.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Weekly Sheffield/Rotherham Meet - 14/01/2010 09:22

the 23rd is fine by me, the location at the trading post/ olde house is a good location, big car park, 2 mile off the dronfield bypass and a good pub too. if we meet there for this one maybe we could arrange a different location for future meets if people want.

Like Niff says, can do this venue this time and another the next etc. This means I'm going to have to come down the Dronfield by-pass this time, oh no... ;-)

Looking at the 23rd lunchtime-ish. No other purpose to the meet than a get together, chat and some snap.

Attendees :

Missed it !!!

A combination of not checking the thread, working, running the daughter to ballet rehersals has meant I missed out on what would have been my very first coupe meet.

Still, I'll do my level best to get to the next one! driving

Re: Weekly Sheffield/Rotherham Meet - 24/01/2010 12:38

Those who missed it, we'll see you next time thumb

Seems a lot of the locals missed this one, keep an eye peeled for the next one, I reckon a bit of a pub lunch will be in order. I'll make a note sometime of everyone who's posted on this thread at one time or another and PM when we get the next one arranged, I must admit I tend to miss meets on here, or tend not to look very closely and find they were just down the road etc.

Have to say it sounded good when everyone fired them up to go, all that rumbling idle smile

Will look at putting up a date for sometime next month, watch this space... wink

Proccy, I'll give you an adjusted time so that you can turn up last smile

Re: Weekly Sheffield/Rotherham Meet - 17/02/2010 08:57

I don't see any reason why I can't make this weekend either, apart from being seriously brassed off about not getting my overtime paid this month. Grrrr. But anyway, not an issue.

The bird's off as well actually, I could bring her along so if anyone needs any washing or ironing doing.... smile

I'm quite happy with the same place as last time FWIW, nice place, big car park, and as Proccy hinted, I'm sure it's lovely inside...could do without the wedding cr@p though wink.

Anybody else fancy the Olde House, or whatever it's called, Sat or Sun?

Re: Weekly Sheffield/Rotherham Meet - 17/02/2010 09:04

i can do this sat or sun at the old house, the coop has been at jonnybravo's having some work done so she wont fall to bits for this one driving driving like a dream once again!
