Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 06:52

OK guys, after trying and failing to pull off the event at motormania earlier in the year, I'll stick my neck out and ask if any other Scottish owners are up for a social?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:05

Yup, I'm up for a meet. When were you thinking, early January??
Posted By: mattB

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:07

Count me in too.

I'm still planning to try and organise a karting event at knockhill for spring time for all Scottish members.

My finger seems to be firmly stuck up my **** though.

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:07

DOn't mind, thought the Aberdeen mafia might want a quick blast between Xmas and New Year (maybe a quick blast out by bridge of Feugh or however you spell it) and look to get a propoer Scotts meet together sometime in the new year?
Posted By: mattB

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:08

That sound like a plan. I should be around for most of the time. Hopefully the roads wont be too nasty.

Aye...

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:23

So, for those that fancy it, how about meet in the car park by the bridge of fccuk on the 29th? say 11 am? quick coffee, frighten the natives, blast hrough the lanes?

We can all have a laugh at the sad Xmas jumpers we'll all be wearing
Posted By: mattB

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:25

WOW. fccuk has a bridge? Where does it go?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:29

Now there is a surprise, sorry chaps......I'm working.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:30

Sorry Matt, just I'm not sure on the spelling for the Bridge of Feugh.

Although a Coop Bridge.........

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:32

29th is a thursday? I will be away for possibly 2 days that week, but i'll get back to you tomorrow.

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:34

Hmmm. I'm up for a total scottish meet sometime!! Need to make it more central due to the larger population of glasgow coops!

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:34

Matty, your always working............

Although the nice new Alpine stereo I have waiting under the tree comes with some token for one of your Halfords people to fit it for free :-)
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:37

Ah good show, just give me a phone at work or pop in past and we'll arrange fitting. We're obviously VERY busy at this time of year, but fellow Coupé owners come first.
Posted By: Tartandude

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:40

Working Wednesday/Thursday/Friday next week......was actually thinking more along the lines of January for a meet as will be relatively busy with family festivities etc over Xmas.....

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:45

Tartan you are right, most paople are going to be tied up (or is that just me, those anne sumers vouchers are a lot of fun) over Christmas, and we could do with a decent New Years meet. The Weekends are the 31st-1st, 7 - 8th, 14 - 15th, anyone with thoughts on date/venue?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:46

The closer to me the more chance of me making it!!

Ross
Posted By: mattB

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:50

I should be fine for any of them, apart from possibly the 1st .

I'm still up for the 29th though, if i'm around. Even if there's only a couple of us.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 07:56

I'm going to be going stir crazy by the 29th, so I'll be out there, anyone else fancies it then great. There are some superb roads out that way, and I have an idea to run past you guys for something to try in the summer. I got given a great book from the 50's outlining 'Challenging and informative routes in Scotland for the touring driver' that might provide some fun routes to try if the roads are stil there :-)

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 08:04

Im defo up for the summer driving!!

Ross
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Scottish meet - 21/12/2005 08:07

The language used to describe driving in Scotland would make you cry (more than actually trying to drive in Glasgow!). If I get a chance, I'll scan some of the route descriptions and maps, funny isn'nt in it :-)

Re: Scottish meet - 22/12/2005 03:57

i'm very much up for a meet.... as with ross though, the closer to glasgow the better.

also, sooner the better too.... this is the 1st time my coop has run full power since i got it. ha ha, i dont want it to break again before i meet you guys!!

Re: Scottish meet - 24/12/2005 02:33

So any thoughts on somewhere central for the new year?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Scottish meet - 24/12/2005 05:07

I don't know why, but St Andrews springs to mind...
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Scottish meet - 24/12/2005 06:21

Er. St andrews isnt really much closer but it be a nice drive!! Better than going via speedcameraville!!!! Ie. dundee-aberdeen!

Re: Scottish meet - 24/12/2005 06:55

I'd def be up for a meet as well don't mind travelling as long as I can get more than 3 secs off my work at a time!! Would have to get rid of the embarrasing dings down the sides of my coop taken care of first (or is this a standard coupe feature!!) and I'd have to drive at the back of the pack otherwise you guys wouldn't be able to see through my smoke screen!!

Is Bathgate/Livingston area not supposed to be the most central point of central Scotland??
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Scottish meet - 24/12/2005 07:03

They aint from central scotland tho dude. Most of the guys are between glasgow and aberdeen. Personally somewhere like pitlochry/ dundee is quite neutral i suppose!

You can swing by me if you want. I'm in Stonehaven, so on your way to/home. I'll pm my mobile number.

This is of course assuming i dont die of alcohol poisoning, which at this moment in time seems quite likely.

Re: Scottish meet - 24/12/2005 15:27

Would have loved to, but as some happy shopper has taken the edge off my bonnet I'll be spending the day getting the damage looked at.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Scottish meet - 24/12/2005 19:12

Oh your joking Che, I really hope there isn't much damage.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Scottish meet - 24/12/2005 21:59

Matty. I might be visitin stonehaven soon. I have a couple of mates up there!!!

All dependant on whether the coupe gets repaired or not!!

Ross

Re: Scottish meet - 24/12/2005 22:12

Ross your thinking of Matt.

But if you are coming up I'm sure I could have a wonder down to Stonehaven...

Re: Scottish meet - 25/12/2005 05:13

So have you two finished flirting, or is there a spring wedding on the cards????? :-)

Matty, no, not joking. They weren't insured either!

So, a combination of the edge of the bonnet being scraped down to the metal, the nice scratches Arnold Clarke put in the roof, and the little scabby bit at the back of the off side arch mean that it looks like a full re-spray...............Merry Christmas chaps!

So, anybody spots a less than impresive Ink Black fuming it's way round aberdeen, it's me.
Posted By: mattB

Re: Scottish meet - 25/12/2005 05:16

That is harsh. (about the car i mean)

I'm should be about on the 29th with a fully functional coupe (hopefully) so i'd be up for a drive out some good roads if you can still be bothered.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Scottish meet - 25/12/2005 05:22

Still up for it Matt, at least it still looks nice inside, and I'll hopefully have the new Alpine up and running so can at least have something to listen too to whilst I sulk :-)

Put the new filter in this afternoon, fitting the brake shims on Boxing Day, so it'll need a run.

So, Bridge of Feugh it is, I'll be out there for 11.
Posted By: mattB

Re: Scottish meet - 25/12/2005 05:43

I guess i should manage that.

If i cant make it for 11, i'll let you know with plenty warning.

Re: Scottish meet - 25/12/2005 08:54

Che that really is bad luck, but nice to see your looking on the bright side of things. Give me a shout as I know a guy who does small paintwork repairs, great work for not much money.

Anyway, as I said guys I'm back at work on Wednesday so I won't be able to attend on Thursday which is a bummer as I love the roads along there.

Re: Scottish meet - 27/12/2005 04:18

Thanks for the support guys, although I had a persuasive chat with the owner concerned, and they agreed to pay

Have spent the day sorting a bunch of little bit's that needed doing, put in the K&N, fitted the new stereo, changed that annoying bulb that had blown behind the dash, you know the kind of thing. Am now sat back with a beer looking forward to giving it a good run on Thursday, so who needs good paintwork, it only get's dirty
Posted By: mattB

Re: Scottish meet - 27/12/2005 04:21

I'm afraid you're going to be on your own on Thursday.

Didn't manage to get my car sorted out today. Made a start, but couldn't really be bothered with it.

So i'm not going to manage to get home from my relatives until later on Thurday afternoon. Then hopefully sort my car on Friday.

Sorry.

Re: Scottish meet - 27/12/2005 04:22

No problem Matt, hope you get sorted enough to get home.

Hope to catch up with some of you this year.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Scottish meet - 27/12/2005 05:21

Well thats good that the person is going to pay. As for the K&N, she'll sound awesome!

As I said I'm working so I can't make it, so we'll have to get something arranged soon. Right, I think I'll crack open a beer too...

I'm a newbee to all this and would love to attend a meet somewhere North of the Border. The April thing sounds great but I still have a relatively low mileage and would like to try and keep it that way.

The Coupe is a fab drive an any A road and where better than Scotland for some of the best scenery to enjoy a great ride!

I haven't quite thought of any routes but Dunoon is a lovely drive and not bad for a wee night out.

Sat 12th/Sun 13th May would be great for me, we could meet in Glasgow bout 2ish then drive down, takes about 1.5-2hrs

Is anyone interested? Other suggestions welcome...

Cumbria isn't that far away, and the roads there really do kick ass!

There's the Scottish Italian Car Day at St Andrews at the end of May. Make sure you get yourself along to that.
