South East Christmas Lunch: 29/11/15

As discussed at Honnington yesterday, we're proposing the White Bear at Fickleshole (CR6 9PH), as last year and suggesting Sunday 29th. November 2015.

If we start the list and then in a couple of weeks I'll confirm tentative numbers with them. All are welcome, especially new members to the forum as well as other halves and kids, grannies etc! We just need to know numbers

Wow!! That was rapid! I have just rung the pub and booked the space.

The good news is there is no issue with the date so it's definitely happening. The bad news is that 24 people would be the maximum number they can accommodate for such an event so there are 2 spaces left!!

Also nearer the time we will need to circulate menus and pre order the food and pay a £5 per head deposit- pretty standard terms I fear for this kind of number.

Regrettably that would be the maximum number so barring people dropping out this is now fully booked. As I said in a few weeks I'll get menus from The White Bear and will circulate.

That's just around the corner from me but I somehow doubt the weather will be appropriate for me to bring her out. I don't like getting her out if there's any dampness around. Or baking sun for that matter but that's been a rarity this year.

If you are interested in attending I can see if the pub can squeeze you in! You can't have used your car at all this year in the basis of those two criteria!

Some (most) people will be in their 'ordinary' cars in any case!

You're right. I give it a run every two to three weeks. Only done about 1000 miles since last December. I bought it because I saw the values going up and don't want to clock up too much mileage.

And yeah, squeeze me in. I'll turn up in my daily if I have to.

The only reason I didn't make it to Honnington was that I'd done my back in and couldn't crawl more than three metres from Saturday to Tuesday. Took until Thursday before I was able to stand up again!

Hi Chris, still 3 from my side.

Following Submariner's suggestion I shall pm all on the list with my PayPal details. If it is a 'friend's' payment it should not incur charges to either side as long as you use either a PayPal account and/or your assigned bank account to make the payment.

If I wait until Sunday 8th. November for all responses and payments of the £5 per. head I shall proceed to place the deposits with The White Bear and then that will finalise the numbers for 29th. November. They will then send out the menu for us to chose from.

The deposit monies have now been paid to the White Near for the 20 people. They will email me in the next couple days with the menu for us to pre-order.

I will then email on to the people on the list. Is there anyone whose email address for receipt of this is NOT the same as their PayPal account, since I have those from the payments. Just PM with any addresses.

Once we have the menus I'll give everyone a week to choose and get back to me.

At last I have received the menu for the Sunday Lunch meeting!

I can confirm that the table(s) is booked for 1:00 pm so suggest meeting from 12:30.

I have emailed you all to the PayPal email or other as given. If you haven't received by close of play today please contact me again.

Can I have your food orders back to me by Monday 23rd. Nov please so I can relay to the kitchen?

It is amazing what a connected world we live in.

Whilst chatting with Barry Gadd, the subject of the old Mullard Company came up and I mentioned that their then MD, Frank Jones, was the father of two of my old school friends.

Not only did Barry know him, but he knew Roger, one of his sons and that sadly,Roger had died way back in the 1970's.
