Tartan Tarmac - 27/05/2015 14:13

As several posts have been submitted on this it's probably better to have a dedicated thread so fire away!

Re: Tartan Tarmac - 27/05/2015 15:42

Aye, sorry. Thread drift!

TT are good guys. I’ve been doing drives and so on with them since ye olden Pistonheads days. There are usually some nice motors at the breakfast meets – Lambos, Porsches, Ferraris at the top end, Westfields, Caterhams, Lotuses, and some interesting ‘normal’ stuff like old Cossies and classic BMWs.

My Coupé drew some admiration last month, even though some of the chaps convinced themselves it was an Alfa …

Re: Tartan Tarmac - 27/05/2015 18:23

Thanks Simon and my apologies for not starting a new thread.
I'd really like to go but it's dependent on the wife/baby situation and subject to dry weather. Fingers (and legs) crossed! laugh

Re: Tartan Tarmac - 27/05/2015 19:46

I'll make it to this at some point but it won't be this weekend due to:

1) My power steering tensioner bearing sounds like a bag of spanners so coupe is going nowhere until I fix that and aux belts are already overdue so will probably do those as well
2) Rain is forecast for Sunday anyway

Re: Tartan Tarmac - 28/05/2015 07:44

Sounds like you’ll be staying dry in the garage all weekend, Graham!

Congratulations Barney! Glad there's no more crossing of legs required. laugh
Looking kind of wet in the morning, otherwise brekky was looking like a good idea!

Congratulations Barney and family.

My kids are 9 and 7 now - time does go too fast and kids are there to prove it!

Have you got the baby seat in the Coupe ready?

Cheers gents. cool Mum and baby OK and home safe. smile
Determined to attend one of these TT meets. Will be working away end of this month so July is now the target.

Re: Tartan Tarmac - 01/06/2015 10:44

Glad to hear all three of you are home and well. Congratulations!

The TT meet was a big one considering the weather. Everything from a hot-rod Cortina to a brand-new 991 GTS. And the highest torque vehicle we’ve ever had – a demonstrator from Scania’s truck dealership!

There are tons of photos up on TT’s Facebook page. Someone even got carried away and photographed the Coop …

I know nothing (John Snow) about Facebook. Are the photos open to view by anyone?

Re: Tartan Tarmac - 01/06/2015 11:01

I think they’re all public, yeah. Can’t say 100% for sure how friendly Facebook is to non-members.

Try here and scroll down for people’s photo posts:
TT on Facebook

Or maybe these links directly to a couple of the photo albums:
TT’s own album
ADM Productions’ album

You & I are in the same boat there, Barney...

Re: Tartan Tarmac - 02/06/2015 15:44

laugh FB doesn't appeal to me but might have to reconsider creating an account since so many groups / organisations are forcing it.
The TT on Facebook link shows some cracking photos. Sadly I can't access the albums. Looks like a great way to spend a Sunday morning! Plenty of variety and an impressive turnout.

Re: Tartan Tarmac - 27/07/2015 10:47

Impressed with the TT meets. Can't recommend this highly enough. Friendly & enthusiastic people, broad variety of cars on display and the food from Berits & Brown is delicious. laugh
Starts around 09:30 and lasts a couple of hours. Links below sum it all up nicely...

Glad you finally made one! Sorry I didn’t this month …

Re: Tartan Tarmac - 27/07/2015 20:46

Yes I was looking for you or at least one other Fiat Coupe. Not a single one there sadly...
Read somewhere there were a few complaints about aggressive driving towards the very end. Do hope a silly few don't spoil it for everyone else.
With luck, see you at the next one. If it rains I'll just turn up in my daily and park it well out of the way!

Re: Tartan Tarmac - 28/07/2015 15:33

Heh. My Coop *is* my daily …

I was helping my girlfriend move house over the weekend. No way I was getting up early enough to make the TT meet in the middle of all that heavy lifting!

Re: Tartan Tarmac - 28/07/2015 22:00

Hi chaps, I made it, but early on and in an Alfa Gtv V6. So must have missed you Barney. I was making sure I got back before it persisted it down as it usuually appears to do on the last Sunday of every month.
Hopefully next month will be better and I get to meet you.
All the best.

By the way, for the last two days seen a red Coupe at Larbert Print, any idea who this could be?

Does this have organised park or just turn up and hope for the best that your parked next to another coupe?

Re: Tartan Tarmac - 30/08/2015 20:14

Very nice to meet you today Poprock. Sorry, didnt see Rosso and to Barney I didnt take any photos so sorry to you too. Mind you, I was in a Gtv Alfa and managed to park next to Poprock so Siblings were together.
I think alot of the Italian metal went to Aberdeen where GT Scotland were meeting so only one Ferrari and Maserati there today.
Quite a few Porsche as they were off to Porsche in the Glen, but it was a good day. Had a few chats with like minded car folk which makes for an enjoyable Sunday morning.
Hope to meet some more of you in the future.

Re: Tartan Tarmac - 31/08/2015 10:46

Lots of the local Ferrari owners also have Porsches … and yesterday was definitely a ‘take your Porsche’ day.

I didn’t stay long, was moving house over the weekend and wanted to get on with it! Always a nice way to spend your breakfast time though.

Right, looks like I’m going along this morning after all. The other half wants a day in Edinburgh, so we may as well stop off at the breakfast meet on our way over.
