Re: Oxfordshire - 25/06/2012 09:24

Quite a few knocking about.

We occasionally have meets on an adhoc basis - worth keeping an eye on the events section.

Mine as below :-) Albeit she's only done around 6 miles since the start of the year whilst I negotiate with the other half a case of new bathroom vs spending money on the Coupé.

Welcome is this going to be your first coop experience ???
Posted By: skinflint

Re: Oxfordshire - 25/06/2012 10:22

I'd be up for a Didcot meet too.
Here's a photo from the last one I attended a couple of years ago.

I think Hammy used to organise them, but he sold his Coupe earlier this year.

I'll be up for a meet.

Re: Oxfordshire - 25/06/2012 22:27

I thought the Barley mow was a really good pub. Nice to sit outside, good beer, and some great roads around there.

I remember your car sounding like a jet from behind RusH. cool

Anyone have any ideas on a date if this is the right venue?

Re: Oxfordshire - 26/06/2012 09:13

Well I'm up for meeting when ever it suits every one else but my coop needs a bit of body work done first as I sure it won't look as nice as every one else's coupes,

I haven't OCD'd the bodywork on mine yet, so there are still plenty of stonechips and small dents.
It would be good to see a work in progress from my point of view.

I'm OK most weekends, except Sat & Sun after next. July would be good, if not sooner. Last time I came we did an earlyish evening which worked well.

There's at least 3 in and around Didcot, including myself.

Last meet was a good laugh I remember engaging in a bit of car-swapping! I'd be up for another one.

Alfa_Owner can we come along and unbolt stuff of your donor car for our own? I could do with a few odds and sods. Also people what coupe hasn't got dents in? I think they came out the showroom with dents!! It would take me 3 minutes walking to get to Barley mow. An evening would be good.. week after next?

I have a spare wing in Ink black. Can't remember what side it is from, but you're welcome to it.

In-arch plastics are possibly called a wheelarch liner?

Also I'll be coming from the south and could come through Blewbury if you need a lift.

Re: Oxfordshire - 28/06/2012 20:36

I was having a brain fade moment. Wheel arch Liner of Course :-). My car is working so no worries about getting there. I am having an operation next week so If the meet was in a couple of weeks time that would be better for me. Oh and yes please to the wing :-)

From experience, you will never get a date which suits everyone.

Pick a date. Some will go, some will drop out.

If those that went enjoyed the meet, then the chances are you will get more to give it a go the next time you suggest a meet.

Posted By: RusH

Re: Oxfordshire - 13/07/2012 14:29

So just to bring the following together and confirm attendees, location and time in one summary as below for clarification:

Date: 22nd of August

Time: 7:00PM - The carpark has lighting from recollection

Location: Barley Mow Pub

http://www.chefandbrewer.com/pub/barley-mow-abingdon/c1331/

The carpark is on the opposite side to the pub.

Last time we organised a meet at the location the venue was perfectly fine with us turning out in mass. As such unless we have a huge turn out it's unlikely that we will need to get 'approval' before turning up. After all so long as we spend some money and buy a drink/food there shouldn't be an issue.

Good hearing SeanC's Spa's stories.... Very random that Alfa Owner just happened to be driving passed and stop by! :-)

Great effort by Steve considering he had to do a tyre change on route! Hope it was worth it even for the brief chat!

I'm sort of glad you couldn't as I've had to forget it, due to a no show delivery of a new smartphone with a 'window' of 8AM-8PM, FFS! I'm really getting angry with these incompetent delivery couriers and their inability to use even a modicum of 'common sense' or consideration to ring the contact no./leave a message/or even fill out their 'missed delivery' card!

Apologies to all, hope you had a good knees/ankles up! wink

P.S. Steve Fisher, PM me to arrange a meeting or to come view the 20VT at Dunsfold. My Car For Sale ad. may, hopefully, be up later tonight.

Re: Oxfordshire - 22/08/2012 22:45

So not the best start to my first Coupe meet. A flat tyre on the usually bullet proof Mazda!!! rolleyes

The 6 handles well and she was feeling unusually twitchy on right hand bends. So stopped and my fears were confirmed. Slow puncture!

After a 20 minute pit stop, hands covered in oil and dirt decided the space saver would be up to the remaining 12 miles. I was keen to get there.

Got to the car park late! No Coupe's frown

Thought "I'll give em 20 mins they've gone for their drive". Five minutes later I heard the familiar woosh of Coup's in the distance.

Happiness restored.

Had a great time meeting you guys. Awesome cars you all own. Thanks for answering my dumb questions and your patience with me. Good luck with the conversion Alfa Owner.

Here's a few photos (apologies for the HTC. It usually does a great job but the light was fading).

Now I just need to get my hands on one for myself smile

I'll take a look at the ad when it comes up and then send you a PM.

I'd be up for that as well..

Re: Oxfordshire - 20/12/2012 19:30

I'm in Didcot. Plan is to take the fun country route to Wantage and then towards Hungerford. Then maybe further afield from there. Really nice roads all the way along there.

Rush: you're more than welcome, mate. And anyone else who's up for it - make the first meet of the year!

Sounds like a really good run.
Sadly my Coupe is SORNed for a few months but I hope to join the next summer meet.

Re: Oxfordshire - 24/12/2012 12:17

Skintflint: Shame. Roll on the next Summer meet for sure.

Okay so NYD: We meet at 12:00PM in Didcot. Go through Wantage, then down the back roads to Hungerford, Berkshire. Then possibly on to Marlborough, Wiltshire/arseendofnowhere . No motorways, just loads of fun twisties all the way. Literally the ONLY time you get to drive down South without getting stuck behind a Tesco Lorry!

PM me and I'll PM you my number and where to meet.

BTW, I've made a new thread for this in case anyone from outside Ox wants to come down.
