284mm brembos and 305mm brembos - 11/06/2010 12:26

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone would know if there was a difference between the 95-96 and the 96- brembo calipers.

I would assume the later model has a bigger caliper which mounts further away from the hub.

Confirmation/pics would be great.

I thought they were all 305mm brembos?

Afterthought: The 16vt didn't have brembo calipers by the way - only the 20vt (inc pluses, LE's etc...)

I thought 284mm for all?

I think it's the Alfas that changed later on.

?? When you say sized what do you mean. The standard front 20vt discs are 305mm.

I thought all coupes had 284mm disks and it was alfas that had a 305 mm disk fitted to later models to cure brake warping. I didn't realise they were 305mm as standard on the 20VT, learn something every day smile

Coupe 20vt has 304/305x22 discs, but I think early Alfa 147/156 GTA had 305x28, and later upgraded to 330x32... only 20vt has Brembo calipers! There is no 284 discs + Brembos (factory) Coupe!

Coupe 16v n/a, 16vt, 20v n/a & 1.8 16v (sold in mainland europe) have 284x22mm rotors and Fiat calipers.

My brake parts book list 2 types of brake disc sizes for the coupe turbo.
Pre 96 and post 96 turbo
There is also a listing for the 16v coupe.

It doesn't state if the pre and post models use brembo's or not.
I thought all coupe came with brembos, so was suprised to see 2 lisitngs for it.

The pre 96 has 284x22mm and the post 96 has 305x28mm

So does anyone know for deff whether there are caliper differences?

You catalogue is/is not wrong - there are pre-96 and post-96 Fiat Coupe turbo, but the pre-96 is 16v/4cylinder and post-96 is 20v/5cylinder one.

16vt has 284x22 without brembos (same brake setup as Coupe 16v, 20v n/a and Alfa 145 2.0, various Fiat/Lancia 2.0 16v turbo models etc...)

20vt has 305x28 with 4-pot Brembos
