Bloody hell, that was close... - 02/03/2015 18:39
I have just missed an oncoming police car by no more than six inches... all I can say is I'm very glad the road was dry and the brakes worked without locking; I left fifteen feet of tyre tracks.
At dusk, coming to a bend in the road before a short hill that leads to our estate, in a derestricted zone: a Discovery or something similar coming down, and an unmarked police car with one blue light and no siren decided to overtake him on the corner.
Around which I was cheerfully doing sixty... my word he was close!

Crikey. Bet that made you pause to catch your breath afterwards. (And maybe change your trousers!)

They can still get done for dangerous driving even on a blue light! If you cared to take it further!
More importantly! Glad your ok!

Couldn't even get a glimpse of his plate; not even a vehicle type - he was shifting. I'd seen another five minutes earlier on the same road, blues and twos, so I figure there was something important happening somewhere.
Joe, you know the corner; that hill just before the Shenley Road turnoff on the road from the M1.

The B487, or were you on the A5183?
Either way both roads are slippery if wet, shite surface condition and dangerous at speed.
