Eclectic mix of cars

Eclectic mix of cars - 15/04/2024 14:33

So where I am in the Borders, many of the garages are quite old school which reflects an emphasis on owned older cars and less on contemporary company type vehicles. Anyway on my way out this morning I saw at my nearest garage ready for servicing:

Vx Nova GTE - F reg and looked pristine
Jag XJS soft top - G reg and looked in good nick
SAAB 99 turbo - dunno reg but looked in fine fettle.

So when last did you see any of these cars? Perhaps it was someone's personal collection getting dusted down for the season cool

Nice. I appreciate seeing any classics out and about. Saw a nice mk1 Golf cabrio out enjoying the sunshine yesterday when I took my Coupe for a run. Saw a nice K plate Corrado on the way home from work tonight and saw a really nice metallic blue/green H plate Scirocco near work the other day. I’m a sucker for an 80s VW!

Well funny you say that but when I took my coupe out for its first run of the year I past an early Golf GTi and the driver gave a wave. I think there's a recognition between owners keeping the old metal alive cool

Was down in your neck of the woods last week ED for a family meet up and rented a place near Spilsby. Spent some time looking at the haunts my dad and brother frequented when in the RAF during the war. IBCC outside Lincoln was a well thought out and poignant recognition to those who served in Bomber Command smile

You can tell it's spring round here when all the old DDR cars come out of hibernation. Trabis are easy, but some of the others can take some finding out to see what they are.

All very shiny, though, probably not what they were like back in the day... although, there's an old joke concerning a chap who goes to the ministry of cars and tells them he's been saving up for years, and can he please have a Trabi? And the ministry man checks over his bank account and his secret police record and decides, well, you've been a good comrade, of course you can. Delivery will be in ten years.
Excellent, says our hero, in the morning or the afternoon?
In ten years, says the ministry man, what do you care?
Well, in the morning, the plumber is coming...

These days when all comedians are criticised for being sexist, racist or ageist, is that joke Communist?

I was followed by a pinky red corrado yesterday morning.

It looks ideal for a thorough polish and detail.

I hope that the chassis and motor are in a good shape.

We go to Lincoln every now and again but I’ve not been to IBCC. Woodhall Spa is a nice little village that’s worth a visit and not far from Spilsby, did you happen to go there? Or out to the coast for some fish n chips?
